Leaving Our Footsteps in Cawag River

Beautiful places where you feel connected with nature are worth the sweats and long walks. Sometimes we do not notice the tiredness we feel when walking through the trails and hitting the road to witness a scenic view or a spot to spend another great moment. It has been part of my life – the cravings for nature tripping.

And I think I already justified that fact about me through my recent travel blogs here. As expected, this is another episode of my life happenings and adventures series.

The rainfalls have been nonstop since August started. Most people living between the mountain ranges expected that waterfalls would show up and rivers would finally have another trace of clear and cold water flowing down through the hills. We had already witnessed the beauty of the Cawag River way back, and the rainy season gave us an idea to visit the place and see how the rain in the past few days contributed there.

It was a Sunday morning when we started packing our things – from the drinks and foods to the pieces of stuff we needed to enjoy the day. And after cooking and preparing, we hit the road and went on an almost one-hour drive to get there. We met a man renting out their compound as a parking space, so we entrusted the motorcycles we used to him. Then, we hit off the trails and enjoyed the mountain’s view on the way.

A rain came up days before we planned the trip, and we did not expect that we would need to pass through rivers. And luckily, they were not too deep, and my nephew could walk through with us. The adventure continued when we saw the mud in front of us. We had no choice but to march away from it with proper balancing since it was slightly deep.

After that challenge, we saw our dirty brown feet and slippers and laughed out the frustration. It was part of the journey.

The prolonged walking and trekking paid off when we heard the sound of the water flowing. We also heard laughter and people talking. It means that others went there to witness the beauty of the river. As we got there, we were amazed by the crystal clear water. We felt excited, but we had to find a good spot where we would have a feast on the food we had brought.

After a discussion, we finally decided where to stay and put down our backpacks and other pieces. We also ate lunch so we could enjoy swimming after. I took the chance to take a picture of my nephew when he rested on one of the big rocks. I told him to smile, and he flashed his brightest smile at me.

The long wait was over when we were done eating. We changed our clothing into something suitable for swimming and started to get ourselves ready. The water was cold, making us shiver at first, yet we endured it to enjoy the day.

When our bodies adjusted to the cold breeze, we roamed around and checked out more good spots in the place. Some parts have aggressive, flowing water, and there are also spots where it is good to lay down and enjoy the water.

As seen in some pictures, there are other people out there. And the rocks served as the zone for eating, resting, and room for the things of the visitors of the place. Someone was watching over us, and he was in charge of cleaning the area. But we decided to bring our trash and only leave our footsteps there.

Sometimes we also have to satisfy ourselves with the things we love to do, whether through swimming, hiking, or any adventures of our choice. It is not too late to take a breath and enjoy life. But once you go to a beautiful place, remember to only take memories with you, not things that belong there. Also, leave only your footprints and not your trash. Be a responsible traveler!
