Rose Garden, Rosario, Argentina

Yesterday morning I realized that, despite living here in Rosario for two years, there are still areas I don't know. We went to do medical tests on the other side of the city and on the way back we stopped before the wonderful sight of a sea of roses of different colors and sizes, mostly red, white, and pink.

Unfortunately, the light did not help me to take better pictures. We woke up with a cloudy sky, even so, it was a cool morning with 17°C. I walked in front of the Rose Garden before, but never in spring. It truly was a spectacle of smells and colors.

This is a French rose bush that is the most common to find in the park. What is important, I decided to read more about the rose garden. It turns out that when the roses are harvested by the municipality, you can go there on your own and take a bouquet for yourself for free.

Many couples choose to get married in this place during the spring, sometimes they do wedding days in groups of up to 6 or 7 couples at a time. The maximum allowed by the municipality is 12 couples per day.

Another anecdote is that for Mother's Day the roses disappear because people go during the night and steal them to give them to their mothers. I don't know if my mom would be happy to receive stolen roses. 😆

If you go during the pruning, in addition to roses, you can also take some stems to plant them at home. Just remember to be careful with the thorns.

The rose garden is located on Avenida Oroño de Rosario, in the vicinity of Parque Independencia, admission is totally free.

It has multiple access roads. You can use the bike paths to get there, some of the public transport routes that pass through Boulevard Oroño or Av Pellegrini, you can also walk through these avenues if you are in the center of the city, they are very nice places to visit by walk.

This Rose is smaller in size than the French rosebush, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in aroma, its delicious smell attracts insects and birds by the bunch, it is common to see them fly when you get close.

Buff beauty rose

These are hybrid roses imported from the Great Britain. Sometimes they are so heavy that the branches twist under the weight leaving the flowers almost at ground level. This is one of the reasons why winter pruning is recommended.
