Pleasant and Scenic Despite Super Typhoon Mawar.

Last week, the Filipino's mental and emotional preparedness was put to the test again because of the approaching Super Typhoon Mawar. The weather forecast brought fear and anxiety, especially to the people living in the Eastern Visayas of the Philippines which has become the usual path of the tropical cyclones as it is facing the Pacific Ocean, and my countryside is no exemption.

Classes were suspended by the local government units on Thursdays (in the islands and the Northern tip municipalities of Cebu) and Fridays (in our town together with other neighboring towns). And as forecasted the super typhoon entered PAR (Philippine Area of Responsibility) on Saturday.

Thankfully, the Super Typhoon just passed and didn't make landfall in the country yet only brought heavy rains, strong winds, and a cloudy day, however, surprisingly amidst Super Typhoon, the weather was kind to us (in some parts). The weekend came with a lovely bright day, not windy and rainy and not burning hot either but a very fine weather to go outdoors and enjoy the calm scenic view of the beach.

So today, I'm bringing you with me on how we took this good opportunity to go to the beach in the absence of the scorching heat of the sun, where the weather turned to be just fine and calm on the beautiful and refreshing coast of the corner of San Remigio, the public beach of Ligodon.

Ligodon Public Beach

When one hears of Ligodon Beach, the first that comes to mind and the first that comes out in the search engine are the private beaches of the area, but little did one know, that Ligodon has a hidden small paradise where locals can fully enjoy this spot of nature and access it for free.

Discovering Ligodon

It was Sunday after church that we had this sudden urge to spend and enjoy our time on the beach. We only had a couple of minutes of planning for "who brings what" and "where to go". And instead of going to Odlot Beach, our go-to-beach in our every random beach- craving, this time we wanted to try something new to our eyes, a place something beautiful yet will only require us to spend less. And LIGODON Public Beach is the answer to this (thanks to my brother's suggestion).😎

Finding the beach is a little tricky as the roads will lead you to the private beaches, so it's best to ask locals, but of course, the basic sign in searching for public beaches is to spot an open road with random trees and lush plants/grasses growing healthily which are obviously not maintained or trimmed, another sign is the absence of cottages, just the virgin trees.

Natural umbrellas

As soon as we arrived at the place, the four tall lush trees were what caught our attention first. It was so refreshing to sit under these trees as it provides perfect shades and a mix of cold wind and the sea breeze that lightly caresses our skin. We brought with us a mat, a hammock, camping chairs, and utensils for cooking our food so we could comfortably feel at home in our newly found paradise.🤗

Green Vines, white sands, small boats

The beach is simply stunning on its own but the lovely things that made this beach uniquely beautiful are the green vines hugging the fine white sand and the fishing boats of the locals.

Fishing Boats

Is it just me who always finds the docked fishing boats a beautiful sight of the beach/ocean? For me, their presence made the beach even more beautiful and human-like. There various colors and sizes are additional attraction and expression of the beach itself.

Just like this photo, when I looked at it, I see beauty with a touch of loneliness. I don't know why, but I just see it that way. How about you?

Other fishing boats.

Fine , white sand.

Since this is San Remegio, the longest shoreline of the province of Cebu, one could enjoy the satisfying feels of the fine white sand on your toes at the same time fill your eyes with the beautiful limitless view of the shore.

Logs

And look what other interesting things I saw on the beach? Logs! I wonder what are they for. Are they placed there for a purpose or the waves carried them to the shore? Whatever it is, they are a beauty. What do you think?

"Dont disturb me, I'm sleeping"- log.

Beach time

And of course, whats the beauty of the beach without our playful and happy kids playing and running on the shore. Their cheers and laughter and the sound of the waves are more than music to our ears.

Meanwhile the adults were very busy preparing the food and talking about our activities on the weekdays. Afterwhich, we then went swimming together with the kids. We had so much fun that we forgot our worries and fear of the super typhoon.

How to get there, by the way?

Once you arrived at the Municipality of San Remegio (town 'center), ride a motorbike (habal-habal) going to Anapog San Remigio. Tell the driver to drop you off at Ligodon Beach and remember the sign I mentioned above. For private vehicle, navigate Waze to Ligodon, Anapog , San Remegio Cebu.

Reminders:

Bring your own food.
Bring hammock, mat or tent.(No cottage in the area)
Leave no trace.
Enjoy while it still open to public.

I am thankful that nobody in my countryside was harmed and affected by the typhoon yet I am sending my prayer to those affected and left devastated by the typhoon.🙏 My prayers are for you.🙏

That's it for our beach moment despite super typhoon Mawar advisory. Don't worry we made sure to take care of ourselves especially the kids. Thank you so much for reading. I wish you all safe and well always.

Don't forget to Smile often.🤗
