What's great about a road trip in the countryside are the random stops we take on the roads, meeting random people, doing something relaxing and different, and lastly discovering beautiful places that fill our eyes with awe.
So for today's blog, I'm sharing our quick yet all-worth-it escapade in one of the beautiful and hidden nature springs of Tuburan, Cebu - underrated, dazzling blue, the humble Mantawihan Spring.
Let's go Taraaaa!
MANTAWIHAN SPRING
Situated in the corner of Barangay Cogon, Tuburan, Cebu, this small but wonderful spring of Tuburan is one of the town's blue crystals. Unlike the other springs of Tuburan (Blue Hole and Molobolo) which are famous and are the crowd's favorite go-to place during the hot and dry season, the Mantawihan Spring remained humbled, quiet, and strikingly beautiful.
Discovering Mantawihan.
It was one of those sunny days when hubby and I set out for a road trip bound for Tuburan. For a road lover like us who wants to witness both lush green (land) and turquoise sceneries (water) then Tuburan is the best place to hit the road.
Mantawihan was not part of our plan, but when we bought "pizza" for our snacks, the Pizza stall was crowded with customers making the atmosphere even hotter, so we decided to take out our order, and find someplace to sit, and enjoy our pizza and more so indulge ourselves to nature hence Tuburan has plenty of natural sceneries.
Lezzz go!
Since one could see NO signs that says "To Mantawihan", to get to the place, we asked for directions from the locals. We parked our motorbike on the streetside and followed the path going to the spring.
Magical and blue!
When we arrived, I gasped with astonishment when I saw a glimpse of the crystal blue spring! I didn't see the full view yet because the spring lies at the bottom of a cliff but I already fell in love with it. I slowly walked downward without removing my eyes from the view and felt thrilled as the spring slowly revealed its full beauty to us!
It is all crystal blue and simply majestic! It's so refreshing and rejuvenating to see.
Mantawihan.
A pool of crystal blue!
The spring is surrounded by lush Nipa Trees on the riverside of the spring, Palm trees, and other big trees, and the hill that seems to protect the spring. These green surroundings even made the water of the spring appear much blue.
Mantawihan Spring has a small cave and this is where the spring comes from. And though the color is turquoise blue, I could still clearly see the bottom of the spring! And by the look at it, I could tell it was deep and cold. A perfect pool to dive into!
The cracked concrete walls (almost broken) are proof that the spring is not developed and owned by the Local Government Units of the town which I think is good as this protect and preserve the spring from the crowds and tourist. Aside from the walls, there are no other structures found in the spring leaving Mantawihan naturally beautiful and less touched. It has maintained its serenity and virgin beauty.
Bliss - Pool!
When we arrived, we met some locals, kids, and adults having a great time in the spring. Some were diving and jumping on the cliff while others stay underneath the small cave. Eventually, another group of people came and brought food with them.
Speaking of food, hubby and I, find a good spot for us to sit down to eat our pizza while watching this beautiful scenery.
After eating, we let our daughter play and enjoy the water for a while (every kid's happiness!) I was holding my daughter firmly as she wanted to run to the pool! The pool is just so tempting!
Some snaps!
After we felt relieved and recharged by the marvelous view we went to the upper part of the cliff to take some snaps. We met some locals and we were happy that they are very friendly and kind to take a picture of us.
