Almourol castle🌏🚩 / Castillo Almourol🏰🧭 (En-Es)

I am back my travel friends, and nothing better than bringing you a great post focused for me on the most beautiful castle in Europe... That's right... It is the only castle in Portugal built on a small island and with one of the most interesting stories. interesting country! What I love most about this experience is that I finally completed all the important castles in Portugal. In total, I had to visit more than 25 castles and I had left this one last because visiting it is quite an odyssey and I'll show you why?... While you prepare for travel to almost a century of history to see the most preserved fortress in the country.🚩🏰🌏

Why is it the most beautiful castle in Portugal?🚩🚙/ Por que es el Castillo mas bonito de Portugal?🌏

It is definitely the most beautiful in the country and the most interesting and well-preserved of all those who visit, although our guide told us that being on an island and not having suffered wear and tear from battles meant that it was so well preserved, it barely suffered maintenance in 2012 before that it had never been touched, I think that the most difficult things to achieve are those that we hold most dear and of course the castle of Almourol will not be the exception, which for me makes it one of the most Or the most beautiful in Europe is that we only get to it using a boat and it is not throughout the year, in winter trips to the castle are suspended due to the danger since 80% of its soil is sandy and too dangerous when it gets wet. The boat ride with a tourist guide is 20 euros plus the entrance 4 in total you will spend 24 euros to take a walk on its walls.🌄🍍🌏

If you want to live the experience, it should first be in late spring and summer since in winter there are rarely walks to the castle because it is dangerous, therefore the first step is to go to the Almourol castle page and make a reservation, you can do it On the internet, I'll give you some advice, places are limited despite the fact that there are rides until 5:00 p.m., ours was at 3:00 p.m. The weather is nice, but bring water and sunscreen because the heat here can reach 40 degrees, after making the reservation you will pay for the castle online and the boat in cash when the tour ends! Our guide was very kind and explained the whole history of the castle to us, as well as giving us an interesting talk about the conservation of the ecosystem, since the castle was built on the Tejo river and a century ago there was more than 8 meters of water in height compared to today. ... Therefore, if we do not take the appropriate measures, the castle could stop being submerged.🙇‍♂️🧭🚩🏰

Beautiful Portugal🌏🚩

Despite Portugal being a fairly small country, it is one of the oldest in Europe, already in 1112 important battles were already being fought to seek independence from the Moors, for centuries the territory belonged to the Romans, then to the Moors but the latter civilization was the one that led great battles together with the Spanish to conquer and defend territories! Why build a castle in the middle of the river? I'll answer that now! After we got off the boat, we have forty minutes to see the entire castle, which is quite small. In fact, you can see it completely in thirty minutes. You have to climb the last tower to understand how it had a 360-degree field of vision.👀🧭

History🚩🚙/ Historia🌏

The famous and most important Portuguese character Alfonso Henrique was the one who led the battle to conquer these lands from the Moors, historians believe that this happened in the year 1129, before he was the first official king of Portugal D. Henrique served in the cavalry Templar therefore this could be said to be a castle built by Templars! Of course, we must clarify that before the construction there were some Roman ruins here, so the Templars took advantage of it to build the bases of the castle! Later, trade was carried out here in the middle of the Age of Discovery, the castle was built on the ship to serve as a warlike structure for lookouts and protection of the country's border area, since Muslim territory was to the south and Portugal to the north and center. It was built in a very interesting strategic area.🧠🌅👨‍💻

When you enter, despite being full of tourists, the car companies have a limited number of people, making the experience beautiful, relaxed, and you have your own personal space to take photos wherever you want! Incredible how simple the castle is too minimalist? because? The castle does not belong to the government or the municipal chamber, it belongs to the Portuguese army and their order is to leave it 100% original, just building a bridge to access the entrance of the castle since the original bridge was vertical and too dangerous, this It is the only alteration of the castle!👨‍💻🏰🚩

Incredible experience🚩🚙/ Increible experiencia🌏

It is amazing how soldiers were here where I am more than a century ago, and that their job was to defend the Portuguese territory with crossbow, sword and spears, here it is known that a small group slept between the walls, so these walls were their Second home!🧭🚩🏰
