One of the attributes of the state of Aragua in Venezuela are its wonderful beaches, which shine with the tropical sun and crystal clear waters, among them we can name Choroní, Cuyagua and where I am going to take you today, Bahía de Cata in Ocumare in the Costa de Oro municipality.
To reach this beach we must enter the Henri Pittier National Park of which the beach is part, the environment is mountainous with large trees that in certain sections of the road cover the sky forming a kind of tunnel, the road is full of curves and near the top before starting the descent you can feel the change in temperature and fog. On this occasion we made the trip around 10 in the morning and the sun had already warmed the atmosphere, but in the early hours of the morning the journey becomes a quite pleasant walk of about two hours to reach the beach from the city of Maracay, capital of Aragua state.
On the way we find the Chapel of the Virgen del Carmen, a place to take a break, rest and if you are a believer you can also pray and make requests or favors to the Virgin. Inside the chapel you can see lighted candles and even gifts and flowers for the Virgin.
Arriving at the municipality of Costa de Oro we find a large arch that welcomes us and further on a large mural with images representing the cultural manifestations of the area. The town of Ocumare has small streets and colorful houses, to continue the trip to the beach we must go through the center of town until we reach a traffic circle that indicates that we must continue to the right.
Although the trip may seem far away and annoying because of the curves for some people like me who suffer from dizziness, when you get to Bahía de Cata the whole trip is worth it, the human quality of the locals is amazing, they literally welcome you with open arms.
Cata is one of the best beaches in Venezuela, where we find warm waters and moderately gentle waves that allow the whole family to enjoy. It is like being in a paradise, protected from the sun under an umbrella and enjoying the products of the sea.

Uno de los atributos del estado Aragua en Venezuela son sus maravillosas playas, que resplandecen con el sol tropical y sus aguas cristalinas, entre ellas podemos nombrar Choroní, Cuyagua y a dónde los voy a llevar hoy, Bahía de Cata en Ocumare en el municipio Costa de Oro.
Para llegar a esta playa debemos adentrarnos en el Parque Nacional Henri Pittier del cual la playa forma parte, el ambiente es montañoso con árboles grandes que en cierto tramos de la carretera cubren el cielo formando una especie de túnel, el camino está lleno de curvas y cerca a las cúspide antes de empezar el descenso se puede sentir el cambio de temperatura y la neblina. En esta ocasión hicimos el viaje cerca de las 10 de la mañana y ya el sol había calentado el ambiente, pero en las primeras horas de la mañana el trayecto se hace un paseo bastante agradable de aproximadamente unas dos horas para llegar a la playa desde la ciudad de Maracay capital del estado Aragua.
En el camino encontramos la Capilla de la Virgen del Carmen, un lugar propicio para detenerse y hacer una pausa del viaje, dónde puedes descansar y si eres creyente también puedes rezar y hacer peticiones o favores a la Virgen. Dentro de la capilla se pueden ver velas encendidas y hasta regalos y flores para la Virgen.
Al llegar al municipio Costa de Oro encontramos un gran arco que nos da la bienvenida y más adelante un gran mural con imágenes que representan las manifestaciones culturales de la zona. El pueblo de Ocumare tiene calles pequeñas y casas coloridas, para continuar el viaje para la playa se debe transitar por el centro del pueblo hasta llegar a una redoma que nos indica que debemos seguir hacia la derecha.
Aunque el viaje puede parecer lejos y molesto por las curvas en el caso de algunas personas que como yo sufre de mareo, al llegar a la Bahía de Cata todo el viaje vale la pena, la calidad humana de los lugareños es asombrosa, literalmente te reciben con los brazos abiertos.
Cata es una de las mejores playas de Venezuela, donde encontramos aguas cálidas y oleaje moderadamente suave que permite disfrutar a toda la familia. Es como estar en un paraíso, protegidos del sol bajo una sombrilla y disfrutando de los productos del mar.
