Metabolic Acidosis and Thiamine Deficiency

This article is a case report of metabolic acidosis (lactic acidosis) caused by thiamine deficiency. Thiamine is a a cofactor for the pyruvate dehydrogenase enzymatic complex. Its deficiency causes an accumulation of pyruvate which is the converted to lactate by lactate dehydrogenase
