Mrs Johnson was everyone's albatross! She lived in my neighborhood, a gossip loving woman who would always meddle in everyone's business thus earning her the nickname 'Queen of gossip'. And how she was able to gather information about people's lives became novelty, albeit with very negative impacts, no one could live a life of secrecy or privacy around here anymore.
She it was who scattered Mr and Mrs Williams' marriage as a result of her interference in their marital affairs, she whispered of her infidelity and before one could say 'Jack Robinson', the news was everywhere and eventually reached the ears of Mr Williams. It was verified as the truth and he had sent his wife of ten years parking.
I loathed Mrs Johnson and made sure to avoid her like a leprous plague, she hasn't said anything damaging about me yet, just a minor gossip here and there, especially about my best friend whom she said was like an 'electric pole, meaning tall and thin. I prayed she never got to glimpse into my life to make me her topic, even if I actually had no skeletons in my closet.
One day, my sister who was living with me was involved in a motorbike accident very close to my house, she was bleeding profusely and according to her, Mrs Johnson quickly rushed out, bandaged her wounds and drove her to the hospital. As that was not enough, she paid the bills and brought her back home, offering to help her in anyway she could.
Later that evening, when my sister recounted the day's incidence, I just marveled at how the devil herself became very sympathetic towards the plight of another, she has become a sympathetic devil.
Thank you for the challenge.
