The Story

The cat purrs like the dickens.

But. The good comes with the bad.

And so. The cat also drools. Like the dickens. His warmish drool turns to a fine spray before it lands on my coat. I always leave looking like I’ve just walked through a fine, early winter, drizzle.

This is my entry to The Freewrite House's Friday 50 word Zapfic Contest. My story is precisely fifty words long, and it is a true story.

These are so fun to write! The good stories have to be written down on napkins when they come to you because they come to you while you are petting the neighbor’s poor cat, who has been left alone, with only you to pet it, for two whole months, and you can find nothing but a napkin to write your fast-fleeing thought down on.
