The bicentenary tortoise

In a forest pond, a two-hundred-year-old tortoise stood impassively watching the hustle and bustle of the modern world. With its shrivelled legs and moss-covered shell, it was a living vestige of time immemorial.

One day, a rabbit hurried past her.

-Hurry up, old friend! -At this rate, you'll be left behind.

But the tortoise was undeterred, continuing his slow walk.

Later, a chattering squirrel sneered:

-Are you still here? The world has changed, you should hurry up.

Years later, the rabbit and the squirrel, exhausted by the hurry, were no longer there, the former was hit by a car and the latter fell from a tree, but the bicentenary tortoise was still there.

Walking with infinite patience, reminding everyone that true wisdom lies in constancy and in not allowing oneself to be tempted by the rush of this fleeting world.
