Spring Chicken.
With thanks for the prompt to the wonderful @mariannewest, here is my offer for the five minute #freewrite. It's a short one today, I had trouble starting - and in fact, wrote the last paragraph first!
Wolf Whistles in the Nursing Home only lead to disappointment.
Stanley lurched up from the dining table. The creaking chair legs mirroring his own. He had sat by himself today; many of the friends he’d made when he’d first arrived have moved beyond their Winter into the unknown. It was curious then, that as he stood, he’d heard a wolf whistle.
Now, you can imagine his bewilderment. This was no disco of his youth, or even the office party of the 90s. He was well past his hey-day, if you know what I mean.
Stanley turned, his face fixed with a confused visage, to see a new resident at the aged home looking intently at him through her smudged spectacles. “Today’s your lucky day, it’s not every day you meet a spring chicken like me!”
If only Stan, and the mysterious woman, were both twenty years younger.
