MicroFiction: A 250 word story written using the word prompt "a little nap".

...When I think of the prompt "a little nap", I'm reminded of the power naps I take frequently that aid in my recovery from a headache or just malaise. For my theme, I was inspired by and utilized the @daily.prompt's publishing of 23 October @mariannewest's Freewrite Writing Prompt Day 2198: a little nap.

Below is my story:

The sun peeked through the sheer curtains as Sibyl's morning dawned.
Another day woken by the grace of God's touch.
Only three scores and ten are promised, she thought.
Eighty years was a gift.

The beginning of another week, bringing her closer to this year's end.
Looking over at her spouse resting peacefully in his snoring position,
sharing softly a familiar tune, she smiled,
remembering their recent 50th wedding anniversary celebration.

A lightning bolt streaked up the back of her neck.
Increasing in intensity, she shuttered, her hands caressing her head.
Another migraine. She lay still, promising to call the doctor on Monday.

Eyes blurry, the room swayed as a ton of bricks weighed heavily, banging her head.
Her arm fell listless attempting to move it toward her husband.
Her mouth twisted to one side.

Maury, she cried silently, I need your help. Please wake up!
Immediately, her dinner threatened to rush back and fill her mouth.

But Maury continued on in his song, drowning out her distress.

I won't get up. Just a bit of stress, Sybil reasoned.
A little nap is all that's needed.
The week taxed her helping to care for Maury.
She hadn't been feeling well lately.
And the home health care worker wasn't scheduled on Sunday.

Daylight Savings ended. She gasped at forgetting to turn back the clocks.
The only chance one hour out of one day of the year to relive your life.

Sibyl reached for the comforter and pulled it over her head.
