20210717 Bungalow construction (column trenches) - day 11

Trenches for the foundations of the columns that will support the metal frames of both structures. The bigger (100cm x 100cm x 120cm deep) trenches will support the larger 10cm x 20cm steel columns use for the structure of the main space.

The bungalows are not heavy enough to require that we dig all the way to the rock which is between 160cm and 240cm from the surface as we found-out when we tested the soil a while back.

The clay of this soil sticks to the metal. To avoid having to remove the clay from the spade pretty much every time they scoop, workers cover the metal of the spade with an old T-shirt and dip it in water.
