A few days ago, @outlinez and I, took a great walk to the Rusoktron fortress and "Ruskina dupka" cave.
The place is located in Bulgaria, about 30 kilometers from Burgas city. We have been here several times, but every time we come, we see new archaeological excavations discovered and nature always surprises us with beautiful elements. And this time it was the same.
The fortress is reached by a steep path.
Climbing up reveals a spacious meadow on which the monastery of "St. George" is located.
It is a relatively new temple, built on the site of the destroyed old church.
We continued to the fortress. There were new excavations discovered.
According to historical data:
until 600 years ago, Rusokastro was the most powerful guard on our border with Byzantium. In this place, Medieval Bulgaria held its last military victory before falling under Turkish rule. In 1332, Tsar Ivan Alexander defeated the troops of the Byzantine Emperor Andronicus III near Rusokastro. The thick fortress walls and tall towers preserve the memory of barbarian invasions and bloody battles.

Between the red rocks:
@oulinez found an interesting arrangement of stones, which he described as a small Stonehenge.
We also wanted to go to the "Ruskina dupka" cave, and that's where we headed.
I wanted to take pictures with the 360 camera and this is how interesting it turned out:
There are legends about the cave that it was a Thracian sanctuary.
No matter how much drought occurred in the area, water always flowed in this place.
This post is my entry for #wednesdaywalk - an initiative of @tattoodjay collaborating with #MakeMeSmile challenge hosted by @elizacheng.
