An Unexpected Bus Ride to Belfast

I can't tell you what on earth made me to just go out of the house and hop on the bus and walk about wherever my feet lead me to.

It's the bank holiday Monday today. I get up early to get ready for the things my kids need for school tomorrow. I cook. I clean. And talk to Mum while she's reading her paper.

Before I get overwhelmed with all the school stuff, my job and house chores I decided I will go out alone. I'm having milk tea. I want milk tea. That's the plan. If I see any Ramen place I want one too! (See, she knows why she's going out. She just wants to eat alone.)

I didn't wake up my husband. I let them all sleep in peace. I let Mum know I'm going out. I will walk to the town and look for milk tea. No milk tea near me then I decided I'll take the bus to Ards which I'm familiar with. It's close to work.

But there's a bus coming going to Belfast. 30+ minutes ride to Belfast. That's exciting! But I've never been to Belfast alone and I don't know Belfast at all. So I ask someone at the Bus Station and was glad he was going to Belfast as well.

It's cheap too for a return fare I only paid £3.70!

He is very helpful. We had a great conversation and he even walks me to the Belfast town centres showing me where to go.

I always loved the buildings here in Belfast. They have lovely architecture and pleasing to the eyes.

I always know I'm in Belfast when I see the Albert Memorial Clock.

This Tower clock is here since 1869 and is one of the best-known landmarks of Belfast. If Pisa has the Leaning Tower well we have here the leaning tower of Albert Memorial Clock lol.

I went to different shops like Sports Direct, TK Maxx, and Dunnes Stores just to be nosy but didn't see any that I would like to take home with me. Since it's bank holiday the place is busy.

So I went out and look for the milk tea place. I found this small shop Chatime. I have to queue like everyone else.

I got my favourite Brown Sugar Pearls and added pudding to it, large, no ice. And I had seafood ramen that made my day!

I'm happy enough now let's have a walk and see what we have here.

I stayed just in front of the Laganside Bus Centre so I make sure I do not miss the next bus.

Did you see the Harland and Wolff yellow gantry cranes in the background? Yes, that's the shipping company that built the famous Titanic!

That's what it is up close. Our famous Samson and Goliath.

The Big Fish

It is a 10-metre-long Salmon and also known as The Salmon of Knowledge which is commissioned in 1999 to celebrate the regeneration of the River Lagan here in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

The fish has beautiful blue scales made of ceramic tiles and if you zoom out that photo you will see that each tile has a different story to tell, the history of Belfast.

It's sitting along the banks of the river Lagan. This metal sculpture of a female figure is very interesting. It has many names as well like, Thanksgiving Square Beacon, The Beacon of Hope, The Belle on the Ball, The Thing with a Ring and many more.

You can read there what the sculpture symbolizes.

Then it's time for me to go. I got the whole top deck to myself. But it's roasting up here but who cares? I love the view!

Look at the sightseeing bus lol I should tell my husband that we should experience that too! It will take you to Titanic Head Quarters, The famous H&W sign you'll see near, the SSE Arena and many great places here in Belfast.

We pass the Stormont. It's the parliament building.

And that's how my Monday adventure goes. I had an unexpected day but I enjoyed it and how much more if I'm with my husband and kids. I felt like I'm a lonely tourist out there roaming alone. Lol

Thank you for reading.
