Today I made a short #wednesdaywalk around the block and through a local park since I was working from home.
You can tell autumn has started by all the leaves that hare on the ground already.
I've learned a long time ago that trees shed their leaves in fall as a survival strategy for the winter. By dropping their leaves they reduce water loss and protect themselves from damage caused by freezing temperatures.
It's nice how the wind plays with the fallen leaves. Everywhere you see piles of fallen leaves like here against the curbs of the street.
The park still looks pretty green although the floor is covered in some leaves.
But when you look up, you see that some leaves are turning yellow already. It won't be long until the trees are barren again. Just waiting for the first autumn storm...
Fall is also the season for fungi. I spotted this branch covered in small white fungi.
A bit further on the route I spotted quite a large fungi. I had to get down to make a nice photo, but unfortunately it's quite unsharp 😒
I have to get back there with my camera instead of my smartphone soon.
On some of the trees all the leaves have turned bright red. They color nice with the red van that was parked there.
Unfortunately I didn't have a clear blue sky today. That would have made the following shot a bit nicer.
I hope you like my #wednesdaywalk!
