Tranas A’mara Retreat

.
Varice Vost led Fain back to her quarters feeling very naughty. She had tried to remain a model of moral behavior ever since Namyl left fifteen years ago. In those few momentary slips since, she had always taken precautions to reduce the chances of adding to her fatherless children. But now, she was doing the precise opposite!

She closed and locked the door as Fain followed her into the entry area. There weren’t even coats to discard, she realized. Nothing to make it less awkward.

Varice imagined him pushing her up against the wall in a desperate fury of pent-up frustration, pounding into her.

Shoot, her hormones were running away from her. This was a business arrangement, nothing to get emotional about. She knew better. Hormones were treacherous, emotions deceptive, the heart untrustworthy.

“Where is our bedroom?” Fain asked.

His question reminded her of the fact that this business arrangement might be permanent. It made her inexplicably nervous as she led him to her room decorated in subtle shades of burgundy.

She didn’t touch the door, but it closed anyway.

“Don’t be nervous,” Fain said. “We don’t have to if you don’t want to.”

“Don’t be silly,” she reassured. “This was my idea, after all! Besides, I need to know exactly how you treated Oleana!”

He grinned, but then his face returned to seriousness. “We can still stop right now and no one would be the wiser.”

“Do you have a better idea of how to discover the truth?” she asked.

“Not really. However, I confess to not wanting to find another way,” he replied, lowering his mouth to hers.

His first kiss was sweet, almost pretending to be innocent. Then he deepened it into a hungry, possessive kiss that threatened to consume her very soul. Her arms went around his neck, under the hair that grew long around his nape. She felt a moan escape her lips. Even Namyl hadn’t managed to set her on fire like this!

She wasn’t completely aware of the bed against her legs until she was compelled to lay down under Fain’s passionate assault. She watched him remove his tunic and kick off his boots. Then he lay over her, lifting the cloth off her chest, revealing the full fleshy pillows, then covering one with his mouth. His tongue toyed with her hardening nipples. “Fain!” she cried out, running her fingers through his graying hair.

He let go, grinned at her, then repeated the sweet assault on her other breast. She cried out with pleasure and again as he pushed his hands into her clothing, finding the wetness between her lower lips. “Fain!” she whimpered, wanting to feel him slip inside her.

He pulled his hand out as he rose, pulling the clothing off her. He stood and quickly dropped his pants on the floor.

Varice watched him, astonished by the hard arousal which wanted her very much.

He crawled onto the bed, approaching her feet first, crawling up between her legs. “I could still take it slowly,” he offered, kissing her legs as he came up. His lips trailed up the inside of her thighs, his kisses burning like liquid fire inside Varice.

Just when she thought she could take no more, his tongue stroked her little pearl, making her cry out in desire. “I need you, Fain!” she growled demandingly.

“You’re sure?” he asked, then applied his tongue again, pulling another cry of pleasure from her.

“Fain!” she cried out desperately.

“Just to make sure you’re sure...” he said with a chuckle, then his mouth worked its way up her body, pausing on her nipples again. When he reached her mouth, his hard lust didn’t slip so much as ram desperately into her willing body, pounding with impatient need.

Varice cried out and arched her back to meet his every thrust. Her hormonal need was at a maximum, making her desperate to receive the gift he would give her when he reached his peak.

Fain wasn’t a quiet lover. He groaned and grunted with almost every thrust into her fertile body. Somehow, this increased her pleasure, knowing that his body, at least, wanted her as much as hers wanted his!

She hoped there would be many repeats of this night, business arrangement or not. He’d said he wouldn’t leave her, so they would be married – at least spiritually – if she managed to conceive his child. She hoped he meant to live as a married couple in this way as well!

She cried out again, aroused by the idea of being with him every night, conceiving this child – and maybe a few more in the future. She couldn’t imagine refusing him!

His thrusting became harder and faster, his groaning more desperate. “You’re mine,” he grumbled into her ear moments before she felt him twitch his life force deep into her body.

“I’m afraid you have it backwards,” she replied with a grin. “Abári, you belong to me… this is our bedroom… and this body is my wedding gift to you.”

“You know, I think Oleana said something like that to me,” he grinned mischievously.

“Oleana’s dead!” Varice growled back.

“As is my Hraeva,” he said quietly, lowering himself onto Varice’s body.

“I’m sorry!” she cried, meeting his voice and holding her arms around him tightly. “I’m so, so sorry, my love. I would give you up if it meant you could have her back again!”

“I gave up my final years with her, Varice,” he said tearfully, rolling them to their sides.

“You did what you thought was best at the time, Fain. I know you well enough to know that you saw no other option.”

“I might have saved her...”

“At the cost of her freedom?” Varice asked. “Everything I’ve heard about Hraeva… it would have killed her to leave Irola. She stayed and helped people – to make you proud of her.”

“No, Varice. She didn’t do it for me. She did it because that was the kind of woman she was. She was a good, good soul.”

“Who will always be with you, Fain. Would she want you to grieve the rest of your life?”

“No,” he replied, his voice faltering.

“Then please accept my gift to you. My body is for your pleasure for whatever time the gods give us together. I will never be Hraeva, but I will love you for the rest of my life.”

“I accept your gift,” he replied. “Even if you do not conceive our child, this room is our room… Your life is my life… and together we create a new one together. Hraeva would have liked you… and would be pleased with us being together, since she can’t be with me now.”

Varice smiled into his teary eyes. “I think you’re right!”
