Thorsa laughed as she watched the two young women delivering food to Harriett’s pet. She had wondered how the ancient woman learned about the ins and outs of keeping dragons, but had no doubt a lot of experience had taught her much, especially about the crankiness of a pregnant dragon, apt to eat anyone who came near – including her owner – unless they, too, were pregnant. Possibly because of leya-sensitivity in the beasts – able to sense the developing innocent. Or maybe the beast could somehow smell the hormones in a woman as her body hosted the tiny life within.

Euli Harrow cast an angry glance in Thorsa’s direction, perhaps sensing the amusement in her former friend’s thoughts despite the fact the woman couldn’t possibly see through the one-way glass. Thorsa quickly flicked her finger to turn on the sound as it became obvious Euli was talking to Kendra.

“It could be worse,” Kendra said practically. “I hated being on Irola, didn’t you? No life!”

“But it was a life with your brother,” Euli replied. “I just wish he didn’t think I was a traitor.”

“I’m sure when he hears the full truth, he will love you again,” Kendra added. “I don’t know if he even knows I’m gone. We didn’t speak much. I was just going to tell him that Roy got me pregnant when I was taken with Ms. Hollins. I was so afraid Kimmel would be mad at me that it didn’t even occur to me we were in any other danger! I’d give anything to have him angry at me now… or to see Roy again.”

Euli nodded and gave the girl a hug.

Thorsa mused how Euli was so sympathetic to the needs of others like that. It was what had endeared the Euli to her when Thorsa was with T.R.A.S.H. those few days. It was for that reason Thorsa had made sure Euli ended up in Kimmel’s bed. Kendra was accidental. Thorsa had managed to take Kjane Issyk’s baby away in her belly – only for it to be stolen from her (along with her mother) by the blast that had left her gravely injured – saved only by the ancient magickal knowledge of her grandmother, Belmara Wolfkin, Empress of Terrenden.

Any sympathy Thorsa had started feeling for her former friends dissipated in jealousy. Euli and Kendra were both pregnant and Thorsa was not. Though Opuntia, the stella the Empress had enslaved, assured her that she needed to give the herbs a chance to work before she could expect to conceive Jeremy’s child, it didn’t take away the bitterness of having lost Issyk’s baby.

A reflection caught her attention a moment before a pair of strong arms caught her in his embrace. Jeremy’s fingers reached up into her top until he found her twin swells, which instantly formed hardened peaks as he massaged her. She felt the lump against her butt.

“Let’s work on getting your dragon pass,” he murmured into her ear, kissing her lobe. He pushed his hands down again, into her pants, caressing her butt cheeks.

“Let’s go upstairs,” Thorsa breathed desperately.

“Too long,” he argued. “Harriett and Hervé aren’t around for a week or more, the guards are awaiting the new people. It’s just us in here...”

Thorsa didn’t bother to argue any further as her pants fell around her ankles. Jeremy pushed her gently over the console and entered her body with a force that took Thorsa’s breath away.

“I want to love any memory of Issyk out of your brain!” he growled as he pounded her possessively.

Thorsa cried out loudly, too eager to argue with his logic. In fact, her appetite had been so great that she had to wonder whether her grandmother had given her some drug or herb to make sure she wanted everything Jeremy had to offer her and more.

She barely avoided hitting a control that would prevent Euli and Kendra leaving the dragon cave. She wondered whether she would accidentally hit anything else as Jeremy pounded into her body.

She cried out with each thrust until his moans joined hers, telling her that he was at his own climax. His hands held her close to him as he dug deep, his seed exploding inside her body. He groaned his relief as he resumed massaging her breasts.

“I’m glad the speakers are one-way!” Thorsa breathed.

“We should fix that,” he murmured. “Make them jealous of you rather than the other way around!”

“I’m not jealous!”

“And I’m Derick Aiden.”

“Who?” Thorsa asked.

“A famous actor and producer a generation ago,” Jeremy replied.

“You must be old!” she accused.

“After great sex, that’s a low blow!”

She giggled.

“I’m not 30 yet.”

“My grandmother gave you an underage lover!”

“I don’t mind,” he reassured her. “Your grandmother is the law on Terrenden now, so there’s no age problem unless you have an issue with it.”

“No… not like Grandma would listen to me now… She’s too busy with her Decima plan.”

“Speaking of which...”

The door opened. “The guests have arrived,” Titan said a moment before the big guard absorbed the scene in front of him. He tried not to express any emotion, but his face colored admirably, Thorsa noticed.

“We will be there shortly, now get out,” Jeremy scolded.

“Apologies for intruding,” Titan said, retreating quickly.

Thorsa started laughing as the door closed and Jeremy pulled out of her. “I figured it was better to stay in position than to move and display more,” he explained, stroking her body.

“Sounds reasonable,” Thorsa agreed.

“Let’s get decent and go upstairs to see our delivery.”

Thorsa caught his lips for a kiss. Then she took a final look at the dragon. Euli and Kendra must have gone on to their other duties. Maybe Euli could one day forgive Thorsa for separating her from Kimmel less than two days after putting them together. She knew too much… and someone as leya-gifted as her was needed here in the mountains – working with the dragons. If Euli didn’t forgive her, there wasn’t much Thorsa could do. She had warned Euli that she wasn’t a good friend to have. For one tiny moment, she wished she wasn’t related to Belmara Wolfkin and could live a normal life with actual friendships. She sighed and joined Jeremy at the door. They had work to do.
