In northern Vietnam, close to the Chinese border and not too far from Laos, you will find a beautiful mountainous landscape. The main town is Sapa, which is located at an altitude of 1600 m. above sea level. This might be the place most tourist stays. That’s what we did too. But we did hike the mountains, walking from one small village to the next. Rice terrasses covers a large part of the landscape. This is also the area where the largest mountain in Vietnam is located. You can hike to the top of Fansipan (3,143 metres) within two days. If you don’t have the time, take the cable car. The view from up here is absolutely worth the tour.
