The photo was taken in the city of Luang Prabang, Laos. The streets have so many fine and well-preserved colonial-style buildings. The city is located on the Mekong, and is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Once it was the capital. You can still visit the old royal palace as well as at least 33 Buddhist temples.
