I'm liking ProofofBrain so far....

ProofofBrain is one of the newest communities on Hive, with it's own token available on Hive-Engine - 'POB'.

It's only 3 months old and seems to be doing pretty well so far, with a vibrant, engaged community and the token selling ATW for 1.2 Hive.

ProofofBrain is one of the newest communities on Hive, with it's own token available on Hive-Engine - 'POB'.

It's a content agnostic platform, I guess much like Palnet is (or I'm tempted to say was) - you can post pretty much what you like from any front end and use the 'proofofbrain' tag to make your post visible on ProofofBrain.io and be eligible for POB rewards.

Like with @leofinance, there is a 10% 'tax' on your earnings if you upload a post from another platform, with the funds being used for development of POB.

What I REALLY like about POB is the restricted token supply - modelled on BTC there will be a max supply of 21 million POB, with the print rate halving every four years. The starting rate is set at roughly 50 POB to be issued every 10 minutes, or around 7200 every day, shared 50-50 between curators and authors.

Compare this to the print rate for Hive which is currently around 9 million Hive a year with a total supply of 300 odd million already.

I also like the fact that there is a solid burn initiative run by @madstacks - you simply upvote his daily burn post, you keep the curation rewards and he sends the post rewards to @null to burn them and increase the value of the remaining tokens. (The post also works for LEO). 0.3% of tokens have been burned already!

I also like the fact that there are ongoing discussions about all of those 'core blogging issues' on Hive such as whether we should be following trails, using autovotes or delegating, and there seems to be a general preference for a manual approach to posting and curating.

There's also an open attitude toward experimenting with tokenomics, with some discussion of maybe switching the reward distribution to 75-25 in favour of authors-curators.

And of course we've got a new set of Whales, Orcas, Dolphins and so on, not quite ground zero as many of the same old Hive and Leo faces have powered up masses of POB (and why not, it's a good earner ATM), but nonetheless it's a different mix to the whales on Hive or Leo, the other two platforms I frequent.

It's also a great opportunity for those with little Hive Power to become a 'stake face' as there is a conscious effort on the part of many curators to spread votes and thus rewards around widely.

I'm sure this is what Hive was Built For?

Initiatives like ProofofBrain kind of remind me about the main utility of Hive - it is a crypto based social media site!

Anyone (or rather small team) with a bit of cash to invest can establish a community like this, with its own token, tweak the 'rules of the game' and experiment, and anyone can risk some of their Hive capital and get involved.

And it offers you an easy means to see a fresh feed, interact with different people, become more influence maybe in your new niche, and of course earn another juicy Hive token!

It's early days for ProofofBrain, but so far so good IMO!
