New Zealand Implements Lockdown Again, After One Case Confirmed

The New Zealand Government announced that they were implementing a nationwide lockdown on Tuesday, August 17th 2021. Then, the lockdown is carried out for 3 days. This effort was made after lockdown measures were implemented 6 months ago.

This virus was re-discovered from infected nurse in Auckland. The nurse was infected Covid-19 Delta variant. Then, she was immediately isolated in a safe place, even though the nurse had already had 2 doses of vaccine.

As a result of this case, Auckland was given a 7 day lockdown. This also applies to Coromandel Town because she previously was visit in both places. Meanwhile, in other city like Wellington, Cristchurch or etc, the traffic seems quiet. In shopping centers, many consumers who do panic buying to meet their daily needs.

Until this day, New Zealand has recorded 2,500 cases and has a history of death up to 26 people. The last case was happened in last February. The New Zealand Government took a fast response and decisive action against Coronavirus cases that occurred during the pandemic. With that result, New Zealand is considered as one of the countries that has successfully warded off Covid-19 pandemic.
