I see that there are many people who have questions about Odysee and platform-related details. As a result, I decided to create a post helping to gather information about the platform into a single post, citing the references at the end.
This is not a translation of a post or anything like that, it's a filtering of the most relevant content for a beginner. Hope you like it.
What is the Odysee?
In a simplified way, Odysee works as a resource for sharing media, such as Markdown texts, videos, PDFs, programs, among other things. This allows you to create your personal blog in a simple and functional way, create your video channel, share the record of that garage band you had when you were 16 years old, among others.
In a more technical way, Odysee is a frontend to the LBRY ecosystem, created to provide simpler and more functional access to the system. That is, instead of having to install, configure and synchronize your LBRY client, you only need to enter your email and password and you will have an Odysee environment ready to use.
What is markdown?
Markdown is a form of plain text markup used on the internet to write HTML more simply. If you want, you can read more about the language here.
What can I post on Odysee?
Although the network was created with a focus on completely preventing any attempt at censorship, both Odysee and LBRY's official client have some basic guidelines for content posted on the network. The first of these is copyriting: any copyrighted content posted on Odysee or LBRY's client will be subject to local copyright laws. The second one is the non-tolerance of crimes, such as terrorism or sexual crimes: such content, in addition to being subject to local laws, will no longer be listed on Odysee and LBRY's original clients. Third is the policy on NSFW: any content not safe for work or children must be tagged mature, and will not be listed on Odysee (LBRY and similar client only), including videos and texts of explicit sexual content or violence explicit.
What types of files can I post on Odysee?
Miscellaneous, including PDFs, images, videos, plain texts, ISO images and executables, always respecting the maximum file size of 4 GB.
Can I make money with Odysee?
Of course, there are many ways to make money with Odysee. The most common (and widespread) is the community monetization program, but there are others, such as the use of affiliate links, the sale of content (both in LBC and in fiat money), paid advertising, among others. What matters for this is your imagination.

What is LBRY?
LBRY is the network used for Odysee's data sharing. In a nutshell, if the Odysee were a person, LBRY would be her heart, her blood, and her brain. Although the network has an official frontend of LBRY.inc, the most accessed and easy to use is Odysee, which is constantly evolving.
Does Odysee belong to Google?
If you google for like five minutes, you'll see news about the Odysee being bought by Google. In fact, the news is about a photo-sharing app, and it has nothing to do with the Odysee we know today.
Does Odysee have any relationship with Google?
That's an interesting question. It is true that Odysee grew out of a demand from content creators and consumers for a decentralized and open source way of sharing data, and that this demand has among its motivators the arbitrary policies of Google on its sharing platforms, and it is true that the growing dissatisfaction of YouTube users makes Odysee grow even more. However, the LBRY network and Odysee have a completely different structure from Google's behind-the-scenes systems, including the video recommendation system.
Another issue is YouTube features that end up being inherited by Odysee, such as playlists, autoplay and the mini player. Odysee doesn't care about implementing what works, nor is it afraid to remove what it deems bad, and that makes the environment much more social than today's YouTube. There's also another reason why Odysee doesn't abuse its power over the frontend: it's just a frontend, anyone can download the blockchain and create their own Odysee in-house.
Why does Odysee crash a bit when opening some videos?
Unlike YouTube, LBRY is decentralized. This ends up adding a lot of complexity to the system, since downloading each part of the file in a decentralized way in the correct order is much more difficult than downloading the entire file and only then executing it.
Odysee suffers from the same problem, and that's why it chose a different decision when creating the system: increase centralization. That way, instead of trying to grab every bit of the decentrally stored file in the correct order, Odysee downloads and stores various content on cache servers, and opens the videos from those servers. That's why when you take an unknown video, it slows down: it's possible that it is downloading these resources from the system's cache servers.
What is LBC?
LBC is the platform’s cryptocurrency. Based on Bitcoin, LBRY Credits uses the transactions themselves to save the addresses of files distributed on the network and their locations. LBC is also used to purchase content within the network, and to reward content creators through its rewards feature.
How much is LBC worth?
LBC, like other cryptocurrencies, does not have a fixed value, being subject to exchange rate and market value fluctuations. You can see the current value of LBC at Coinmarketcap.
Odysee or LBRY, which should I choose?
Odysee has certain extra features, such as being able to be accessed directly through the browser and you don't need to download anything, while LBRY is a program where you download content and then watch it. Each one brings a series of advantages and disadvantages, so it is much more up to the user to choose the network he wants to join.
How does the view count work?
Currently, views pertain to users who participate in the rewards program (data provided by LBRY.inc) and/or have chosen to share browsing data to Odysee. You can prevent the sharing of this data by denying Odysee access to it at any time in your browser settings.
Why can't I watch the lives on the LBRY app?
The lives system is a native feature of Odysee, not LBRY. It consists of opening a stream, creating the entire video, closing the stream and saving the live recording as a record in LBRY. That is: you can only access the Odysee lives on LBRY after they have already been closed and recorded.

De uma forma mais técnica, a Odysee é um frontend para o ecossistema da LBRY, criado para fornecer um acesso mais simples e funcional para o sistema. Ou seja, ao invés de você ter que instalar, configurar e sincronizar o seu client da LBRY, você só precisa digitar seu email e senha e terá um ambiente Odysee pronto para o uso.

O que eu posso postar na Odysee?
Apesar da rede ter sido criada com foco em impedir completamente qualquer tentativa de censura, tanto a Odysee quanto o cliente oficial da LBRY tem algumas diretrizes básicas do conteúdo publicado na rede. O primeiro deles é o copyriting: qualquer conteúdo com direitos autorais postado na Odysee ou no cliente da LBRY estará sujeito à legislação local sobre direitos autorais. O segundo deles é a não-tolerância a crimes, como terrorismo ou crimes sexuais: tais conteúdos, além de estarem sujeitos às leis locais, deixarão de serem listados nos clientes originais da Odysee e da LBRY. O terceiro é a política sobre NSFW: qualquer conteúdo não seguro para o trabalho ou crianças deve receber a tag mature, e não será listado na Odysee (apenas no cliente LBRY e similares), incluindo vídeos e textos de conteúdo sexual explícito ou violência explícita.

A Odysee pertence a Google?
Se você pesquisar por uns cinco minutos no Google, você vai ver notícias sobre a Odysee ter sido comprada pela Google. Na verdade, a notícia fala de um app de compartilhamento de fotos, e não tem nenhuma relação com a Odysee que nós conhecemos hoje.
A Odysee possui alguma relação com a Google?
Essa é uma pergunta interessante. Também tem outro motivo para a Odysee não abusar do seu poder sobre o frontend: é só um frontend, qualquer um pode baixar a blockchain e criar sua própria Odysee dentro de casa.
Por que a Odysee trava um pouco ao abrir alguns vídeos?
Ao contrário do YouTube, a LBRY é descentralizada. Isso acaba trazendo uma grande complexidade ao sistema, já que baixar cada parte do arquivo de forma descentralizada na ordem correta é muito mais difícil do que baixar o arquivo inteiro e só depois o executar.
A Odysee sofre com o mesmo problema, e, por isso, optou por uma decisão diferente na hora da criação do sistema: aumentar a centralização. Dessa forma, ao invés de tentar pegar cada pedacinho do arquivo armazenado de forma descentralizada na ordem correta, a Odysee baixa e armazena diversos conteúdos em servidores cache, e abre os vídeos a partir desses servidores. Por isso, quando você pega um vídeo desconhecido, ele fica mais lento: é possível que ele esteja baixando esses recursos nos servidores cache do sistema.
O que é o LBC?
O LBC é a criptomoeda da plataforma. Baseado no Bitcoin, o LBRY Credits utiliza as próprias transações para salvar os endereços dos arquivos distribuídos na rede e suas localizações. O LBC também é utilizado para comprar conteúdos dentro da rede, e para recompensar os criadores de conteúdo através do seu recurso de recompensas.
Quanto vale o LBC?
O LBC, assim como outras criptomoedas, não possui um valor fixo, estando sujeito às flutuações de câmbio e de valor do mercado. Você pode ver o valor atual do LBC na Coinmarketcap.
Odysee ou LBRY, qual eu devo escolher?
A Odysee possui certos recursos extras, como poder ser acessível diretamente pelo navegador e não precisa baixar nada, enquanto a LBRY se trata de um programa onde você baixa os conteúdos para depois os assistir. Cada um traz uma série de vantagens e desvantagens, então cabe muito mais ao usuário escolher a rede que quer entrar.
Como funciona a contagem de views?
Atualmente, as views dizem respeito aos usuários que participam do programa de recompensas (dado fornecido pela LBRY.inc) e/ou optaram por compartilhar dados de navegação para a Odysee. Você pode impedir o compartilhamento desses dados negando o acesso da Odysee a eles a qualquer momento nas configurações do seu navegador.
Por que eu não consigo assistir as lives no app da LBRY?
O sistema de lives é um recurso nativo da Odysee, e não da LBRY. Ele consiste de abrir uma transmissão, criar o vídeo inteiro, fechar a transmissão e salvar a gravação da live como um registro na LBRY. Ou seja: você só consegue acessar as lives da Odysee na LBRY depois que elas já foram encerradas e gravadas.
