La conseguí de una forma muy curiosa, fue un intercambio a través de un foro de frutas tropicales internacional, un chico de Tailandia me pidió que si le podía conseguir esquejes de higos, y que el a cambio me enviaría esquejes de manzana de agua que son muy fáciles de enraizar, y así fue como lo hicimos, a las dos o tres semanas me llegó un sobre acolchado con 3 ramitas dentro envueltas en papel mojado, rápidamente la plante en una maceta dentro de mi invernadero y a las pocas semanas empezó a brotar unas pequeñitas hojas, después de unos años las plantas estaban listas para plantarla al exterior directamente en la tierra, y así hice y al cabo de unos tres años después la planta fructificó.
I got it in a very curious way, it was an exchange through an international tropical fruit forum, a guy from Thailand asked me if I could get him fig cuttings, and in exchange he would send me water apple cuttings that are very easy to root, and that's how we did it, after two or three weeks I received a padded envelope with 3 twigs inside wrapped in wet paper, I quickly planted it in a pot in my greenhouse and after a few weeks it started to sprout small leaves, after a few years the plants were ready to be planted outside directly in the ground, and so I did and after about three years the plant fructified.
La fruta hay de varios colores, pero la variedad que tengo es rosa, la piel del fruto tiene una gruesa capa de cera, por eso se le llama también manzana de cera, pero en realidad la piel es muy finita. La carne es crujiente y acuosa, como si te estuvieras comiendo un algodón de azúcar, es más el sabor te recuerda bastante al típico algodón de azúcar de la feria pero con un toque de sabor a rosas. Es una de mis meriendas favoritas, me como unas cuantas manzanas acompañada de un café 😋.
The fruit comes in various colors, but the variety I have is pink, the skin of the fruit has a thick layer of wax, so it is also called wax apple, but in reality the skin is very thin. The flesh is crunchy and watery, as if you were eating a cotton candy, in fact the flavor reminds you a lot of the typical cotton candy at the fair but with a touch of rose flavor. It is one of my favorite snacks, I eat a few apples with a coffee 😋.
