Hey que tal amigos?, Llevo una par de semanas acá en este nuevo trabajo y la verdad es que increíble por que es la primera vez que trabajo como barista principal, anteriormente en mi antiguo empleo, era suplente sin embargo me gusta el trabajo por que es un poco suave y no hay tanta presión como la tenia anteriormente, mi horario es muy flexible a partir de las 2:15pm hasta las 8:30pm lo que me de la posibilidad de estudiar en la mañana, algo que me pareció muy genial.
Hey friends, I've been here for a couple of weeks in this new job and the truth is that it's amazing because it's the first time I work as a main barista, previously in my old job, I was a substitute but I like the job because it's a little soft and there is not as much pressure as I had before, my schedule is very flexible from 2:15pm to 8:30pm which gives me the possibility to study in the morning, something that I thought was very cool.
Acá entre por recomendación de mi bro @jesusaleizarra, y la verdad es que no quería por que sentía que me iba a consumir tiempo de estudio si embargo incluso mi día libre coincide con mi día de mas clases, que me toca turno en la mañana y en la tarde.
I came here on the recommendation of my bro @jesusaleizarra, and the truth is that I did not want to because I felt that it would consume my study time, however even my day off coincides with my day of more classes, I have a shift in the morning and in the afternoon.
Los primeros día me fue difícil acostumbrarme a esta rutina ya que también debo atender a los clientes, anteriormente en Urban sushi & Limoncello, solo trataba con los mesoneros ya que ellos llevaban las comandas y me pedían lo que necesitaban. Acá debía aprenderme los precios de los 25 panes y galletas diferentes que se venden, por su puesto ya tenia cierta experiencia por lo poco que trabaje en Colombia.
La maquina era totalmente diferente y por su puesto también me tomo unos días saber los trucos, y las jarras para cremar leche también me tomo unos días saber la cantidad exacta para cremar bien.
The first few days it was difficult for me to get used to this routine since I also had to attend to the customers, previously at Urban Sushi & Limoncello, I only dealt with the waiters since they took the orders and asked me for what they needed. Here I had to learn the prices of the 25 different breads and cookies that are sold, of course I already had some experience for the little I worked in Colombia.
The machine was totally different and of course it also took me a few days to learn the tricks, and the jugs to cream milk also took me a few days to know the exact amount to cream well.
Sinceramente reconozco que mi arte aun es horrible, pero como no era barista principal no tenia el tiempo suficiente para practicar, ahora por el contrario me sale mucho mejor y puedo practicar diseño que vea en internet, de manera que pueda mejorar mucho mas rápido.
Sincerely I recognize that my art is still horrible, but as I was not the main barista I did not have enough time to practice, now on the contrary I get much better and I can practice design that I see on the internet, so that I can improve much faster.
Otra cosa también que me sirve de experiencia es que debo hacerle mantenimiento completo a la maquina, calibrar el espresso, todo lo que hace un barista principal, las muchachas que trabajan conmigo saben hacer café pero no saben calibrar.
Hasta ahora todo cliente que llega por un café me dice que esta bueno y tiene un sabor muy agradable, y eso me lo dijo la dueña, que los clientes dicen que ahora tiene mejor sabor el café y es gracias a la buena calibración.
Another thing that also serves me as experience is that I have to do complete maintenance to the machine, calibrate the espresso, everything that a main barista does, the girls that work with me know how to make coffee but do not know how to calibrate.
So far every client that comes in for a coffee tells me that it is good and has a very pleasant taste, and that is what the owner told me, that the clients say that now the coffee tastes better and it is thanks to the good calibration.
Incluso se nota un poco en la tonalidad del café que usamos.
You can even notice it a little bit in the tone of the coffee we use.
A veces es un poco a aburrido por que estamos completamente solos y otros días lo complementamos haciendo limpieza total del local, pero el trabajo es muy relajado.
La semana pasada limpiamos las neveras y tenían una capa de hielo impresionante, varios meses de hielo acumulados, y esto impedía que congelara mejor, luego de eso enfría como debería ser.
Sometimes it is a bit boring because we are completely alone and other days we complement it by cleaning the whole place, but the work is very relaxed.
Last week we cleaned the coolers and they had an impressive layer of ice, several months of accumulated ice, and this prevented it from freezing better, after that it cools as it should.
Lo gratificante es que vienen muchos italianos y árabes, ellos me piden cafés no muy comunes, Ristreto, Lungo, Flat white, macchiato, y todos los he preparado y no se han quejado, lo cual me gusta mucho, es decir que estoy haciendo bien el trabajo.
Espero poder mejorar mas rápido mi arte late.
The gratifying thing is that many Italians and Arabs come to me, they ask me for unusual coffees, Ristreto, Lungo, Flat white, macchiato, and I have prepared them all and they have not complained, which I like very much, that is to say that I am doing the job well.
