Conozco el municipio Caripe prácticamente desde que tenía menos de 1 año, ya que mi mamá nació en el pueblo de Sabana de Piedra, ubicado en este municipio. Eso quiere decir que la mitad de mi familia es originaria de allá y tienen varias casas, al igual que haciendas donde cosechan café, frutas, verduras y crían cerdos.

I know the municipality of Caripe practically since I was less than 1 year old, since my mother was born in the village of Sabana de Piedra, located in this municipality. That means that half of my family is originally from there and they have many houses, as well as farms where they harvest coffee, fruits, vegetables and raise pigs.

La capital de éste municipio también se llama Caripe. Donde esta ubicada este monumento emblemático en forma de Guácharo, el cual es el ave regional, en el que todos los turistas cada vez que van de visita se toman una foto.

The capital of this municipality is also called Caripe. This is the location of this emblematic monument in the shape of Guácharo, which is the regional bird, where all the tourists take a picture every time they visit.

Al igual que esta iglesia católica, la cual está dedicada al Santo Ángel Custodio. Y su plaza, ubicada a los pies de la iglesia, es un lugar muy tranquilo y perfecto para disfrutar ratos en familia.

Like this Catholic church, which is dedicated to the Holy Guardian Angel. And its square, located at the foot of the church, a very quiet place perfect to enjoy moments with the family.

Esta cueva tan magnifica formada de rocas calizas y los movimientos tectónicos tiene millones de años y es el sitio más turístico de Caripe. Es conocido como Monumento Natural Alejandro de Humboldt, y también Parque Nacional el Guácharo.

This magnificent cave formed by limestone rocks and tectonic movements is millions of years old and is the most tourist site of Caripe. It is known as the Alejandro de Humboldt Natural Monument, and also the Guácharo National Park.

Es sinceramente hermosa y su recorrido es muy interesante de hacer, lamentablemente dentro de la cueva no se pueden tomar fotografías, ya que el flash de las cámaras y la luz muy directa asusta a los Guácharos, pero toda las personas que van no se han arrepentido.

It is sincerely beautiful and its tour is very interesting to do, unfortunately inside the cave you cannot take pictures, since the flash of the cameras and the very direct light scares the Guácharos, but all the people who go there have not regretted it.

También, justo frente a la Cueva del Guácharo, se encuentra el paso al "Salto La Paila" la cual es una cascada de 30 metros de altura y su recorrido dura unos 30 minutos, cuando es época de lluvia la cascada y la poza tienen abundante agua y es muy bonita de ver.

Also, just in front of the Guácharo Cave, is the passage to the "Salto La Paila" which is a waterfall of 30 meters high and its journey takes about 30 minutes, when it is raining season the waterfall and the pool have plenty of water and is very nice to see.

Ahora le toca el turno a Sabana de Piedra, mi lugar favorito en todo Caripe, voy todos los años al rededor de 4 veces. Aquí mi abuela tiene una casa muy vieja hecha de barro y palos, tiene alrededor de 80 años, al igual que una casa mas nueva ubicada justo al lado. Y mi tío, el popular Nicodemo, tiene una Arepera muy famosa llamada "Arepera el Pino" justo al lado de la casa familiar.

Now it is the turn of Sabana de Piedra, my favorite place in all of Caripe, I go there every year around 4 times. Here my grandmother has a very old house made of mud and sticks, it is about 80 years old, as well as a newer house located right next door. And my uncle, the popular Nicodemus, has a very famous Arepera called "Arepera el Pino" right next to the family house.

En este pueblo esta ubicado el famoso Cerro Negro, la montaña mas alta de todo Caripe con una altura de 1.169 metros y una vista espectacular de las nubes, del estado Sucre y gran parte de este municipio.

In this town is located the famous Cerro Negro, the highest mountain in all Caripe with a height of 1,169 meters and a spectacular view of the clouds, the state of Sucre and much of this municipality.

También se encuentra la cascada Chorreron, ubicada dentro de Cerro Negro. Para llegar a ella no puede ser a través de ningún vehículo, solo a pie por las caminerías que se encuentran en el cerro, en el transcurso se encuentran muchos sembradíos y quebradas de agua pequeñas. Parte de esta cascada surte de agua a los pueblos cercanos a Sabana de Piedra.

In this town is also the Chorreron waterfall, located within Cerro Negro, to reach it can not be through any vehicle, only on foot by the roads that are on the hill, in the course are many crops and small water streams. Part of this waterfall supplies water to the villages near the stone savannah.

Al igual que la colina bienvenido, esta ubicada en la entrada del pueblo y recibe su nombre debido a que los habitantes podaban hierba que crece en la colina para que se notara la frase "Bienvenidos a Sabana de Piedra". Esta es una colina bastante rápida de subir, donde crecen unos pinos hermosos y se puede ver perfectamente todo el pueblo, al igual que los pueblos de al lado que son “Tierra Blanca” y “Vuelta Larga”.

Like the welcome hill, it is located at the entrance of the village and is named after the inhabitants who used to prune the grass that grows on the hill so that the phrase "Welcome to Sabana de Piedra" would be noticed. This is a fairly fast hill to climb, where beautiful pines grow and you can see the whole town perfectly, as well as the villages next door which are "Tierra Blanca" and "Vuelta Larga".

El municipio Caripe es bien extenso y por ese motivo quise centrar esta publicación en los pueblos mas conocidos. Espero cuando termine la cuarentena poder ir nuevamente a Caripe a disfrutar su clima y sus paisajes tan hermosos, y por su puesto, a seguir capturando estos hermosos monumentos que tan satisfactorios son de ver y publicar.

The municipality of Caripe is very large and for that reason I wanted to focus this publication on the most famous villages. I hope when the quarantine ends I will be able to go again to Caripe to enjoy its climate and beautiful landscapes, and of course, to continue capturing these beautiful monuments that are so satisfactory to see and publish.
