Hello hivians,
Today has been a remarkable but hectic day as we all journeyed to another state for my brother's traditional wedding. It was amazing to have friends who are kind enough to be a part of the ceremony. They are also hivians with the name @femcy-willy, @monica-ene, @peterale, @bimpcy. The wedding should have taken place few months ago but was postponed due to the pandemic.
THE JOURNEY.
According to the Yoruba tribe of Nigeria where we come from and even all.other tribes in Nigeria, it's the duty of the groom's family to go to the lady's family house and ask for her hand in marriage. Since we base in different state, we set out on our journey very early this morning around 7am and we got to Akure around 12pm. Below are pictures I took during the journey as it was an eventful one with lot of amazing places to see. I was particularly fascinated with the way people live peacefully in the rural area with Mud houses, forest and rocks around. Life is so simple for them as they display their farm produce outside for sale with no one watching it and they are rest assured no one will steal from them. This is really so amazing to see.
THE WEDDING.
Almost immediately as soon as we got to the hotel, we changed to our ceremony clothes and set out for the bride's house. When we got there, the wedding followed the native traditional method of weddings. The groom's family come, dancing and spray some money then they go to the bride's family side and kneel/prostrate to greet them. Afterwards the groom enters dancing with his friends, drop some money, prostrate for the bride's family before he could sit down. After that the bride enters and repeat what the groom did for the groom's family. They cut cake, exchange rings and dance, dance, dance. Below are pictures I took during the ceremony.
It was really an amazing time. The church ceremony will be holding tomorrow and immediately after we'll be journeying back to ilorin.
