During our journeys, we often search for places that will make us feel like we have just stepped into a fairy tale which will teach us how to get disconnected for a while from daily routines and the reality we all live.
And the reason is pretty simple - we need to see the good parts of life.
Those moments when you truly feel alive and that you are doing something with your life instead of wasting it.
Those moments when you avoid waking up when you are already 50 years old and notice that all those years you've spent in a school or a job which most likely doesn't bring any happiness on your face.
And I know that not only that I've been blessed with a beautiful family, but also with some cool parents who offered me and my sister this love for the mountains, nature, and everything is surrounding us because they are the ones who helped us get the travel bug since we were very young.
During the time, the whole thing turned out into a beautiful family tradition to always travel together and explore the world.
Sometimes more often than we have planned and sometimes too little - but what matters, are the moments we create together that will last forever, and that after a few years when we will get to see a place again, we will know that the first time when we discovered it, it was with (and because of) our family.
This is how we also discovered Cascada Vălul Miresei (EN: Bridal Veil Waterfall).
If we have to look back to the places we visited, probably most of them are waterfalls - and let me tell you that after so many falls we've discovered, no one of them can be compared with the others.
Yes, they do have something in common - the water falling over the rocks - but each one of them has its own story and a different mood will get you into.
Some of them are going to make you feel melancholy while some will bring you energy, some will make you look back and reflect on life while some will teach you how to appreciate more of what you have instead of what you would like to have.
Cascada Vălul Miresei is located in the village called Răchițele, which is just 80km away from Cluj-Napoca, and it's also known as Cascada Răchițele because of the place where it can be found.
The name of Vălul Miresei (EN: Bridal Veil) has been given due to its story which is a painful one about a bride who fell from the steep rocks and who's veil remained hanging on the stones.
After the awful accident, all the wedding guests came to that place to cry the bride and their tears made the beautiful waterfall be born.
If we take a look at the waterfall, with the help of imagination, we will notice that the fall does have the shape of a veil, which makes the legend have a bigger impact when you hear it.
Either way, not too many people know about this place, even though it's also considered as one of the most beautiful waterfalls from Romania.
The people who were often coming to this place are the alpinists which during the winter after the waterfall is completely frozen, they take advantage of the icy stone walls to train climbing.
They are also those who made Cascada Vălul Miresei be in the attention of more tourists and people who promote the treasures of the country.
Even though the waterfall measures just a little over 40 meters in height, in reality, it seems way bigger than that because of the two stages is being split into: 10 meters for the first one, and the 2nd stage of 34m representing the tail of the wedding veil.

The way to the waterfall is an easy one, especially that there are no inclined areas or something that will require any effort from you other than simply walking in the nature for 30 minutes, because you can drive the car a big portion of the way to Cascada Vălul Miresei until you will reach a parking lot where you have to stop and continue your journey by foot.
Unfortunately, somehow, people tend to forget (or actually don't care) that being located in nature you should take all that journey as it is supposed to and enjoy the surroundings before reaching the destination, instead of driving the car until you reach the foothills of the waterfall. Indeed, this is possible but no allowed because, during the time, the whole thing will lead to a place that can be accessed by anyone, whose environment will be far away from how we should discover it. Maybe the trees killers will see everything as a good opportunity on destroying a little bit more of what we all have and should take care of.
Even if you are able to reach Cascada Vălul Miresei very easy, this one was formed as if strategically to lead to other wonders of nature. So if you are looking for a longer journey, from the waterfall you can continue on one (or more) of the many mountain paths that will lead you to lots of caves, Vladeasa Masiff (1.836 m), or Lespezi Peak (2.517 m).
For the tourists who decide to visit the wonder located on an altitude of around 1000 meters, they can also get to discover the genesis of the waterfall, where it's being shared a little poem written by one of the most valuable locals of the village, Teofil Răchiţeanu - a lover of creating beauty and saying stories through his poems.
God came here once, and walking by
Stopped at this rock along His road,
A holy tear fell from His eye,
And where it fell the "Bride's Veil" flowed.
But the village and the people who belong to this place are way more important than others tend to think, because, for them, life means to explain natural phenomenons through charming anecdotes that are completely one and the same with nature.
In fact, this area is the single one that maintains a slice of the authentic life that is still far away from being invaded by urbanization, which is considered the one and only location with a rural slang that still exists in Romania that was created by the local glaciers who wanted to preserve the secrets of their trades at that time.
Since this kind of activity died a long time ago, there are very few people left who are speaking this language which is not promoted enough to be carried forward by the future generations.
Despite the thing that you can reach various touristic attractions starting from the place where Cascada Vălul Miresei is located, there are also more things you can enjoy in order to make the most of your time.
This is how there are enough places where you can go fishing, rock climbing, hiking, or even renting an ATV to explore the surroundings.
As I previously mentioned, Cascada Vălul Miresei is located in a village called Răchițele from Mărgău, Cluj County, which is very easy to be accessed both by foot or driving a car.
If you opt in for the car, you need to follow the European road E60 from Cluj to Huedin where you will continue the road to the left to Călăţele, Răchiţele.
This is a 28km long route as it follows: Huedin - Călăţele - Buteni - Mărgău - Scrind-Frăsinet – Răchiţele.
From here the road turns into a forest path of 5km long that goes alongside a mountain stream that comes from the waterfall.
Even though the path is not paved entirely, you can still drive the car for another part of the road until you get close to around 1km from Cascada Vălul Miresei and where you will have to continue your journey by foot.
The route it's an easy one which can be completed in less than 30 minutes, but there is also the option to come by foot from the beginning of the forest road and walk 5km through the forest and gorges for a better connection with the nature and its embrace.
