Writing Portfolio (last updated 28th September 2021)

A selection of past writings all collected into a single post that I can update. Over the years, I've written bits and pieces and not really bothered too much about putting everything in a single place where I can find things easily. So, time to set that straight and who knows, maybe there will be something interesting for someone!

Crypto

I have some posts and glossary items that were published by Binance Academy, they had accepted many more of my submissions but have only currently published a few (unfortunately, the more technical ones are NOT published). They tend to be heavily edited for SEO/marketing purposes, but there is still a hint of my own self in there!

Sometimes, the documentation for crypto-projects are either non-existent or quite opaque for a layperson. I needed to extract the Polkadot (DOT) private keys from Trust wallet, but it was a little trickier than expected due to the way that Trust derives the keys. Anyway, in this post, I document the method after teaching myself from the documentation, hopefully in a way that is better understood by a layperson!

Gaming

Gaming has been my hobby for as long as I have known. Before computers, it was board games. These days, I try to give my kids decent, high-quality games that really are showpiece of the gaming genre. I can't stand that so many people give their kids a flashy, noisy Skinner machine game that is the equivalent of a poker slots gambling machine and think that that is a "real game". This is really an interactive genre that has the potential to tell compelling stories and train the mind.

Technology

I'm a nerd... and I like gadgets and stuff!

Music

Sometimes, I forget that I have a "day job" of playing Violin/Viola/Viola d'amore. I tend not to write too much about it as it is something that I prefer to do rather than talk about. I still find it passingly strange that I get do something that I enjoy without people throwing rocks at me!
