Index4INDEX Card 190: Hulk Hogan 1

I got a real dose of reality that if you don't have your health, you don't have anything.

-- Hulk Hogan

About the Quote

Not including people who take vows of poverty, no one wants to be poor due to circumstance. People who are rich with money don't want to work so much they lack time to enjoy that money. People who are rich with time want the money to match. It's not easy to achieve the combination of being rich in both money and time, but it can be done.

Just as important as wealth (by whatever definition) and free time is quality of life. Being a millionaire sounds great until the currency is inflated into oblivion. Being a billionaire sounds awesome until divorce court takes half and the taxing authorities get their cut. Being able to enjoy both wealth and time is a vital part of having a great quality of life.

One thing is required for having a good quality of life even if wealth and time are in low supply: health. What good is being wealthy if the wealth is diverted into medical expenses such as treatments, hospital visits, overpriced medications, endless surgeries and procedures, and daily doctor visits? No health, no wealth; it's about more than just money.

Some Information about Hulk Hogan

Terry Gene Bollea was born in Augusta, Georgia, US on 1953-August-11.

Better known as Hulk Hogan, he is a professional wrestler and actor.

When he was in high school, Bollea expressed an interest in wrestling. After he graduated from high school, he attended first Hillsborough Community College and then the University of South Florida. His interest in wrestling was so strong during his college years that he never finished college. He spent his time working out at a gym owned by two brothers, wrestlers Jack Brisco and Jerry Brisco. With Help from Jack and Jerry Brisco, Bollea spent several months wrestling on small circuits in the Southeatern US.

In 1979, Terry Bollea was discovered by Vincent McMahon, the legendary promoter and owner of what used to be called the World Wrestling Federation. At the time, the WWF was the most prominent wrestling organization in the Northeastern US. Because Bollea was 6 feet 8 inches tall and about 303 pounds (not to mention his resemblance to the Incredible Hulk), Vince McMahon suggested to Terry Bollea to go by the name "Hulk Hogan."

In 1980, Hulk Hogan had his first WWF match against the legendary Andre the Giant. Hogan won that match, and along the way he gained the support and respect of wrestling fans nationwide.

Hulk Hogan had caught the attention of actor and director Sylvester Stallone. For the 1982 movie Rocky III, Stallone cast Hogan as heel wrestler "Thunderlips the Ultimate Male" for the charity match in the opening scene of the movie.
