The Dakar was disappointing. I can't imagine why hundreds of men flock here every year from Paris itself. There are good areas to stay here. I liked the fish market for its atmosphere and intricacies. I liked that in the evenings thousands of young people go jogging and training on the embankments and beaches. But the city center - polluted, dirty, overloaded with people and cars, not suitable for walking - upset. They promised that after Mauritania there would be "civilization" in Senegal, but the worst traits seemed to be taken from civilization: traffic, smog and prices. In this city, most of us first encountered branded African corruption in its most extreme form (one official, for example, refused to take a bribe in 50-dollar bills, demanded a hundredth: otherwise the place at home ended), which also did not improve relations with the city.
