One thing I have learned in South Africa is that the distances are real. Like every tiny tick on the map is already 20 kilometers and those 20 kilometers dont have to be in a straight line forward, nor that they stay on the same altitude.

While driving towards the Drakensbergen region I though for a bit that taking a detour through the mountains to get from from one valley to the next would be doable. As you can see these mountains are rugged and the valleys are formed because of the rivers flowing through them. Rivers...which does not always mean there is a road that can cross it. You live, you learn

While entering the Cathedrals peak national park it was only views towards the endlessness of the mountains. The park is green, lush and beautiful. The heat is brutal because summer has started to show itself.

But who needs anything else than this view for the day. Staring at the mountains is one of my favorite forms of spending time. Behind these brutal tops is the Kingdom of the sky Lesotho. I just wonder what happens in the back of the mountain and how life is over there.

Some weird stuff is here as well that people are flying around in helicopters as a leisure trip. That seems crazy, but the views must be fantastic. But also slightly over the top. I'd rather sit on a hill somewhere and just look over everything.

That is exactly what I am going to do! Cheers!
