¡Feliz inicio del fin de semana para todos!. Quizás algunos han notado en algunas de mis publicaciones de esta semana que nos fuimos de viaje a Medellín, una hermosa y próspera ciudad de Colombia. Particularmente mi esposa y yo nunca habíamos ido a este país hermano y jamás imaginamos que de hacerlo sería en un momento tan extraño de la historia de Venezuela. El punto es que no nos fuimos de vacaciones, y aunque realmente yo no tenía un trabajo específico que hacer en la ciudad, acompañé a mi esposa y otros de mis compañeros en el canto a un concurso internacional de gran prestigio que se llevó a cabo. Participaron casi 30 cantantes del continente americano, así que para no hacer el video tan largo solo les he compartido un extracto de los ocho venezolanos que lograron llegar a las semi finales. Happy start to the weekend everyone. Perhaps some of you have noticed in some of my posts this week that we went on a trip to Medellin, a beautiful and thriving city in Colombia. Particularly my wife and I had never been to this sister country and we never imagined that if we did it would be at such a strange time in Venezuela's history. The point is that we did not go on vacation, and although I did not really have a specific job to do in the city, I accompanied my wife and other of my fellow singers to a very prestigious international contest that took place. Almost 30 singers from the American continent participated, so in order not to make the video so long I have only shared an excerpt of the eight Venezuelans who made it to the semi-finals. Todos estos chicos hicieron una audición virtual hace un par de meses y fueron seleccionados para participar en esta semi final; yo no encajo aquí por ningún lado 😅 además de no tener una voz tan potente como la de ellos, mi edad tampoco me permite participar ya en este tipo de eventos, pero he logrado ser el único asistente al menos de mi grupo de músicos en presenciar el concurso. La semi final se llevó a cabo el Sábado 03 de Agosto en el Palacio de Bellas Artes de Medellín, Antioquia, Colombia; contó con la presencia del mismo creador del concurso y cantantes experimentados que fueron parte del jurado, además, se repartieron más de 10.000 $ en premios, no solo para los tres primeros lugares, sino también en otros premios de apoyo y categorías especiales.
All these guys did a virtual audition a couple of months ago and were selected to participate in this semi final; I do not fit here anywhere 😅 besides not having a voice as powerful as theirs, my age does not allow me to participate in this kind of events, but I managed to be the only attendee at least of my group of musicians to witness the contest. The semi final was held on Saturday August 03 at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Medellin, Antioquia, Colombia; it was attended by the same creator of the contest and experienced singers who were part of the jury, in addition, more than 10,000 $ in prizes were distributed, not only for the first three places, but also in other support prizes and special categories.
Incluyéndome, fuimos nueve venezolanos que partimos a Colombia el mismo día, estábamos juntos pero no revueltos. Mi esposa y yo nos hospedamos con nuestras amigas Kimberly y Annelia, pero muy cerca estaban los demás chicos, todos pueden verlos en el video y aparecen cantando en el siguiente orden: Kimberly Maneiro, Patricia Laguado, Annelia Hernández, Jhoxiris Medina, Luis Ramírez, Iván Cardozo, Jeremy Fuentes y Anderson Piaspam. Todos ellos ya ejercen la música en Venezuela, y no solo como coralistas de mi agrupación, sino como cantantes profesionales; creo que eso pueden notarlo en los pocos segundos que comparto de la participación de todos ellos en mi video de 3speak.
Including myself, there were nine of us Venezuelans who left for Colombia the same day, we were together but not mixed up. My wife and I stayed with our friends Kimberly and Annelia, but very close by were the other guys, you can see them all in the video and they appear singing in the following order: Kimberly Maneiro, Patricia Laguado, Annelia Hernandez, Jhoxiris Medina, Luis Ramirez, Ivan Cardozo, Jeremy Fuentes and Anderson Piaspam. All of them are already practicing music in Venezuela, and not only as choristers of my group, but as professional singers; I think you can see that in the few seconds I share of their participation in my 3speak video.

Creo que mi corazón ya no está para presenciar este tipo de estrés en vivo 😅 desde la primera concursante que venía de Ciudad de México, entendí que sería una competencia bastante reñida, y no me equivoqué. Vinieron cantantes de Brasil, Costa Rica, Perú, México, Estados Unidos, Colombia y Venezuela, aunque había más gente de estos últimos dos. Nuestra delegación era grande, yo estaba seguro que algún premio teníamos que llevarnos a casa, la pregunta era quién de todos nosotros. La tarde fue muy larga, cuatro horas de evaluación y recesos, y yo informando a mis amigos en Venezuela a través de las redes sociales, pero finalmente de los 8 venezolanos solo cinco pasaron a la final del concurso...
I think my heart is no longer in it to witness this kind of stress live 😅 since the first contestant who came from Mexico City, I understood that it would be a pretty close competition, and I was not wrong. Singers came from Brazil, Costa Rica, Peru, Mexico, the United States, Colombia and Venezuela, although there were more people from the latter two. Our delegation was large, I was sure that we had to take home some prize, the question was who of all of us. The afternoon was very long, four hours of evaluation and breaks, and me informing my friends in Venezuela through the social networks, but finally of the 8 Venezuelans only five went to the final of the contest...

En la música todo es incierto. Es un poco difícil decir lo que está bien y lo que está mal, porque al ser arte depende de los sentimientos y del efecto o sensaciones que causamos en otras personas al cantar. Hay cosas que son extremadamente estrictas, como la afinación y el ritmo, pero fallar en una característica no quiere decir que no haya otras, como la técnica, dominio de escena, seguridad, son tantas cosas. No creo que sea fácil para un jurado elegir ganadores cuando hay tanto talento sobre el escenario, así que todos nosotros debemos dar lo mejor de nosotros mismos, pero estar conscientes que cualquier cosa puede pasar cuando lleguen los resultados finales. Al final todos son ganadores de una primera ronda y posiblemente los mejores de sus respectivos países. De esta semi final los cuatro chicos venezolanos lograron pasar a la final y solo nuestra roommate en Medellín, Annelia, fue la única Soprano en lograrlo... Y sí 💔 se me rompió el corazón 💔
In music everything is uncertain. It is a little difficult to say what is right and what is wrong, because being art depends on the feelings and the effect or sensations that we cause in other people when we sing. There are things that are extremely strict, like intonation and rhythm, but failing in one characteristic doesn't mean that there aren't others, like technique, stage mastery, confidence, there are so many things. I don't think it's easy for a jury to choose winners when there is so much talent on stage, so all of us must give our best, but be aware that anything can happen when the final results come in. In the end they are all first round winners and possibly the best in their respective countries. From this semi final the four Venezuelan guys made it to the final and only our roommate in Medellin, Annelia, was the only Soprano to make it... And yes 💔 my heart broke 💔
