Hello everybody on Hive and especially the PukuMundo Community! My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town, South Africa!
This is Week 65 of “The Singing Voice” or “La Voz Cantante” challenge! The aim of the game is to play a rock cover, or perhaps a cover of a genre that led to the formation of rock music.
I have done quite a lot of classic rock artists over the last few months, so I thought I should maybe try something a little bit more modern. My sister moved over to London and started working in music promotion. This meant that I got to find out about bands like Arcade Fire, Mumford & Sons and today’s band Kings of Leon a little bit sooner than most other people in South Africa!
After a few quite core albums that only cool people like my sister knew about, Kings of Leon hit the mainstream with hits in 2008. First there was “Sex on Fire” and then today’s song: “Use Somebody”!
