INTRODUCING THE TRADITIONAL CLOTHING OF BENGKULU PROVINCE

There is something inexhaustible when we talk about my country, Indonesia. What is most often heard about Indonesia is its many tribes. Up to thousands. But this time, I want to wear some traditional wedding clothes in Bengkulu province. Maybe I won't tell you all of them, but let's get acquainted with some of the regencies in Bengkulu.

In the bridal chamber of North Bengkulu regency, there are seven things that need to be considered:

  1. Seven-layer curtain
  2. The bride and groom's clothes
  3. Jambar money
  4. Sampiran
  5. Cerano sirih
  6. Pahar
  7. Paper flower
As with other regencies in Bengkulu, north and south Bengkulu also wears red for their wedding customs.

  3. Jambar money

  4. Sampiran

  5. Cerano sirih

  6. Pahar

  7. Paper flower

  8. Chair of the bride and groom

Although I have only given a few examples, at least we have an idea of the traditional bridal attire in several regencies in Bengkulu province, because they are all similar, but below I will explain in more detail the meaning of the names above

  1. Seven-layer curtains, obviously as we know that's the number of layers of mosquito nets installed in a guest room
  2. Pahar, a tray made of brass with legs. This is usually used to place some offerings in an upacar or bridal event in several regions in Indonesia, Bengkulu being one of them.
  3. Jambar uang, this is cash that is beautifully decorated on tree branches or pots. Apart from the traditional bridal ceremony, jambar uang is also usually present at certain ceremonies in the community.
  4. Cerano sirih, is a container for package of betel that will be served to guests during certain traditional ceremonies.

Thus our journey to get to know a little closer about tribes and customs in Indonesia. Where to next?
