These are the noteworthy desserts no in order of rank but do read till the end to look at the ultimate dessert of desserts. Made in Sarawak and is uniquely Sarawakian. Malaysia has 13 states and each state has different style of cooking the same type of dishes.
MANGO SAGO with Vanilla Ice Cream
Made with sago (starchy pearls) and ice cream with mango. It has that creamy texture and is a dish that you would definitely want to bring your family or loved ones to go to eat.
MOCHI red bean filling with a strawberry on top
Very soft on the outside. As you bite on it, the red bean filling burst directly into your mouth. Delicious flavours.
Fried dough with sesame
These are uniquely Sarawakian. Made everyday fresh.
There is also the fried sesame ball with red bean filling. Super duper delicious as well as UFO.
Mochi
These are different from the Strawberry mochi. Made from glutinous rice and inside is fried peanut butter chunks. Delicious.
Zhu Zang fen
Rice noodle flour wraps the fried dough inside with a special Malaysian sauce. This has that jelly texture. Inside it's crunchy. There are many versions of this. The other version have shrimp inside.
Fried dough
These are slightly salty and is great with coffee and milk. Hot coffee or milk. Or any other beverage. The flavours of the drink sips into the dough. It's like dunking donuts into coffee.
Sri Muka
The green part of top is made from glutinous rice flour and the lower half of this is made of glutinous rice. A great combination. It is slightly sticky.
The tortoise shaped dessert known as Ang Ku Kueh
Looks like tortoise shell, don't they. My mom in law made them using an herb and mix it with glutinous rice flour. The inside, dhal beans mixed with some sugar. This is one of my favourite. I can have this anytime of the day.
The Sarawak layered cake
Handmade. These are rare. Handmade layer by layer. Comes in different flavours. They have that creamy cheesy texture. Usually, it takes a lot of time to make.
The number of layers show the time taken for a cake like this.
Each layer is steamed one by one. The batter poured one layer by one layer. These are a must have if you do come to Sarawak. A must try. You will never ever forget the taste.
This is a wrap up. These are some of the most delicious desserts in Sarawak.
