Fiesta is usually celebrated in May. Almost all municipalities, barangays, and even setios here in the Philippines celebrate fiesta. This celebration is a Filipino culture and tradition where relatives from other places go back home to celebrate and have their family gatherings. This is also our way of thanking God and our patron Saint whom we offer our prayers during the celebration. In Cebu, Feista is not complete without having a Festival. Almost all municipalities have their festivals. For Tabogon, we have the so-called Sanggi Festival. This festival is a way of portraying that one of the main livelihoods of Tabogon is harvesting corn or the so-called Sanggi in our dialect.
Our school is one of the contingents during the Sanggi Festival 2024 of Tabogon. We were supported by the 5 Barangays that's why we successfully joined the Festival even if at first we found it hard to look for our participants since we didn't have face-to-face classes at that time. We just motivated our learners by giving grades and awards to all dancers. With our motivation, we were able to reach the number of participants needed to complete our contingent.
The showcase of the festival was held on the day of the town fiesta. All teachers were encouraged to show support during the day of the showdown. The showcase started with street dancing followed by the showdown at the Tobogon Central Schools. There were
5 contingents participated in the Festival. These contingent were coming from the secondary school of Tabogon District. All contingent did their best and showed their performance excellently. The winners were in various categories like best in street dancing, best in costume, best in ritual showdown, and a lot more. Luckily our school got the 3rd place winner in ritual showdown and best in audio van. We received a cash prize of 60,000.00 pesos. We were thankful to our trainer, dancers, teachers, and of course to the five barangay captains who supported our contingent since the very beginning of the training. The Sanggi Festival makes the town Fiesta festive and fabulous in honor of the patron saint Sr.San Isidro Labrador.
Aside from supporting the Festival my husband and I visited the house of some of our friends who invited us for lunch and dinner. So after the announcement of the winners we had our early dinner with friends friend in the municipality. Thankful also to our Father God for guiding us and being able to celebrate our Fiesta.
HAPPY FIESTA everyone!
