My Blissful and Fulfilling Summer Garden Project!🌱

It's amazing how every moment spent nurturing the earth blossoms into abundance and fulfillment.

As the school bells rang for our summer vacation, I found myself busy planning what to do in the neglected corner of my backyard, overgrown with tall cogon grasses. I've been eyeing this space for several months before the end of our school year, imagining edible plants lushly growing on it. Vacation came, and I was elated when finally I had the opportunity to realize my gardening goals.

The two months were filled with hard work, nurturing, patience, and anticipation to see my plants grow. My garden now is about to yield fruitful results!

As much as I want to write the process and updates of my garden one by one, I found myself enjoying the work and setting aside the writing part. But here I am now, sharing my fulfilling gardening. And hey they are about to yield fruits!😍

Clearing Time:

Cogon grass is one of the most stubborn grasses in my countryside. To fully take them out requires strength and maintenance. For this part, my father and brother helped me with this task.

They are the best people to do this task, because if it were me, it take me more than a week to clear everything. These grasses are tough and have thorns in their roots.

It only took them half a day to clear all the grasses. With their help, the once hidden ground was now unveiled just like a blank canvas for my gardening aspirations.

Planting the Dreams:

With a heart full of excitement, I gathered a variety of seedlings ready for transplant. I wanted to plant seeds on my own but I realized this would take more time and I only have 2 months to grow everything.

So I bought eggplant seedlings in the market, while I got from my school garden the okra and string beans seedlings. I have to bring them home because no one will take care of these plants during vacation at school. Unexpectedly, alugbati sprung up randomly in my backyard, so I only needed to transfer them to the right place they belonged.

These tiny seedlings, all found their new home in my lush garden-to-be. I am positive about their healthy growth and potential for a bountiful harvest.

Nurture and care.

Just like human beings, plants also need nourishment, With this I gathered fertile soil, dried leaves, and animal manure to create a nutrient-rich environment for my plants.

In the morning, I also clear out Cogon grasses who are sprouting again and again.

As my string beans began to reach for the sky, I embraced my Girl Scout skills and crafted trellises using unused woods in my surroundings and with the use of anahaw ties. With every tie, I felt a sense of accomplishment, knowing that I was providing support for these growing vines.

I felt so happy watching the healthy string beans clinging to the trellis. I'm proud and joyful.

In this journey, my nanay played a significant role too. She diligently watered the plants every afternoon and during my hiking expeditions with friends. Her dedication mirrored my own.

Another thing I do is check my garden first thing in the morning. The early morning sun became my trusted companion as I woke up at 5:30 AM every day to spend precious moments in my garden. The tranquility of those mornings, combined with the sight of plants growing steadily, filled my heart with immense joy. It was a good time to connect to nature, observe, and celebrate the gradual progress. I must admit I fell in love with this morning routine.

Fruits and fulfilment

I'm delighted to witness the robust growth of my vegetable garden, now flourishing with fruits. Their sight alone brings immense satisfaction. Anticipation builds every day as I eagerly await the moment to harvest and savor the fruits of my labor. I consider this as my achievement and my heart is genuinely happy for my little garden.😌

Some thoughts:

As I stepped back into the routine of school, I found solace in knowing that beyond the classroom, my garden was flourishing. Every day, I eagerly anticipated the changes that each dawn would bring to my green companions. The journey was no longer confined to a summer break; it had evolved into a continuous adventure of learning, patience, and wonder.

That's it for my Garden journey during my summer break. I hope you enjoyed reading it. I wish you all safe and well always.

Don't forget to smile often. 🤗😍😊
