The Harsh Winter Weather On Mount Snežnik Made Us Stronger / Beautiful Slovenia

The trail to Mt. Snežnik was, to say the least, interesting. Since this is a well-known winter trail, we decided to hike it as well. We found out how well-known the trail is when we got to the parking lot and saw a lot of parked cars there. Besides Slovenian visitors, there were also many Italian and German visitors. Most of the people we met on the way had touring skis or snowboards. Some of them also had snowshoes, although they didn't actually need them, as the trail to Mt. Snežnik was well-trodden. First, we walked through the forest. Then the path opened up a bit. In the beginning, Mt. Snežnik was wrapped in the fog, which gave us the impression of a romantic atmosphere. The closer we got to the top, the stronger the wind. It blew away the fog and rewarded us with beautiful sunny views. It was blowing like hell at the top. The cold winter wind blew us to the bone. The mountain cottage was closed because it was the middle of winter during the week. In winter it is open only on weekends if the weather is good. Thank goodness there is a winter room next to the mountain cottage which gives hikers some shelter from the harsh weather conditions. We hid from the wind in this winter room and cooked ourselves a hot instant soup, which warmed us up nicely and mentally encouraged us to step outside again into the wind and cold. Before we descended from the mountain, we quickly went to the very top of the mountain and took some photos. It was a wonderful winter hike.
