Nasılsınız? İyi misiniz? İyi olmaya çalışıyor musunuz? Çok git gellerimin olduğunu fark edeli uzun zaman olmamıştı fakat şu sıralar bunu hiç yaşamadığım kadar yoğun yaşıyorum. Belki bunu sürekli veya uzun süreli konuşmalarımız olan insanlar daha iyi fark etmiştir.

Bakalım hayat karşıma ne çıkaracak çünkü 20 Kasım'daki doktor randevum yaklaştıkça ben geriliyorum. Benim için tekrar spora başlayabilme olasılığı olması diğer her şeyden daha önemli şu anda. Neyse...

Bugün size geçtiğimiz 10 Kasım'da aslında bahsetmek istediğim konudan bahsetmek istiyorum. 40. Tüyap Uluslararası İstanbul Kitap Fuarı. 28 Ekim'de açılışını yapan bu fuarın cumhuriyetimizin 100. yıl kutlamalarından bahsettiğim bir postumu sizinle paylaşmıştım. Ve bu sefer sıra, fuarın kendisinde;

Fuar alanının ne kadar büyük olduğunu size anlatamam bile. Gezerek bitiremedik. Tam olarak anlamayabilirsiniz fakat en azından sizinle harita görüntüsünü paylaşmak isterim ki aklınızda bir şeyler şekillensin.

Ulaşım

Bu alana ulaşmak için herhangi bir aktarma yapmama gerek kalmadı neyse ki. Tek bir otobüs ile yaklaşık 45 - 50 dakikalık yolculuk ile geçtiğim yaklaşık 90 durak sonunda hayallerimi süsleyen kitaplara el sürebileceğim yere ulaşmış oldum. Ki uzak bir ilçeden bir noktaya varmaya çalışan ben için oldukça rahat bir süreç oldu.

Fuar alanı hemen hemen bulunduğu alanın yarısından fazlasını kaplıyor. Özellikle bahçesi ile birlikte daha da büyük bir alan hâline geliyor.

Ben artık bir öğrenci olmadığım için ve de öğretim görevlisi olmadığım için bilet alarak içeri girebildim. Biletimi Ekim'in başında fuarın internet sitesinden temin ettim. Ve bunu da çok cüzi bir miktarda, 20 Türk Lirası ile yaptım. Etkinlik takvimlerine ise bu siteden ulaşabilirsiniz.

Yapı olarak, hayran kaldığım büyüklüğünden bahsettiğime göre artık içeride olan bitenden bahsedebilirim sanırım.

Fuar

Fuar girişi her ne kadar basit gibi görünse de içerisi tam bir karmaşa. Daha ilk saatinde gittiğimiz için o kadar da kalabalık olacağını düşünmesek de oldukça kalabalıktı. Özellikle de öğleye yaklaştıkça gelen okul kafileleri ilkokul arkadaşım ve bana zor zamanlar yaşattılar.

Fuarın çoğunluğunun hitap ettiği kesim öğrenciler olduğu için genelde sınava hazırlık dönemi test ve ders kitapları ağırlıktaydı fakat bu demek değil ki başka hiçbir alan yok. Sırf kaybolmamak için her girdiğim salonda mutlaka, aşağıdaki fotoğrafta da görebileceğiniz, bulunan panoların fotoğrafını çektim. Tabii her şeyden önce girişte bilgilendirici ve haritanın olduğu bir broşür dağıtılması çok daha rahat ve kullanışlı olabilirdi.

Bütün kitap stantlarından en beğendiklerim genelde sahaflar oldu ki sebebini az çok tahmin ediyorsunuzdur diye de düşünüyorum. Özellikle de daha önce bahsettiğim Kitap Avım'da bu konuya da değinmiştim. Bir sürü almak istediğim kitap oldu fakat elbette hepsine bütçe dayandırmak zordur tahmin edebileceğiniz gibi. Yol ve yemeği katmadan 250 Türk Lirası gibi bir harcama ile buradan çıkabilmek benim için büyük bir başarı.

Salonları gezerken sohbet ettiğimiz bir sürü satış danışmanı oldu. Genelde insanlar oldukça sıcak kanlılardı. Bir tanesinden özellikle tekrar bahsetmek isterim. Aşağıda gördüğünüz beyefendi ile uzun bir süre sohbet ettik. Bir sahaf olarak kendisi deneyimlerinden bahsetti ve arkadaşım ve bana kitap severler olarak bir sürü de tavsiye verdi.

Kendisini fotoğrafçılara alışık olduğundan biraz poz verdi ama bendeki "becerisizlik" ile tabii ki de bir şey yapamadım 🤣 Tabii bir de bu kadar sohbet sonrasında bana ve arkadaşıma çok güzel bir indirim de yaptı. Daha da bir sevdim kendisini 😁 Bu yüzden sahaflar, markalardan daha iyi 😂

Daha sonrasında ise o gün arife olduğu için yarım gün çalışan annem işten çıkar çıkmaz bize katıldı. Onu almaya giderken arkadaşım ile ayrıldık çünkü birazdan bahsedeceğim bir planımız vardı. Annemi almaya giderken hazır etraf kalabalık değilken onunla bir hatıra fotoğrafı çektirmek istedim. Hatta çok rezil bir şekilde ismi ile ilgili birkaç espri de yaptım. (Annemin ismi Hatıra.)

Kadıncağız o kadar yorgunluğa rağmen bakmak istediği birkaç kitap olduğu için gelmekte ısrarcı oldu. Tabii bunu da bana "Sen ne anlarsın?" diyerek yaptı. Çünkü kendisinin ana dili Rusça ve sanki bana öğrenmem konusunda yardım etmemiş gibi davrandı 😒 Aradığı kitaplar Rusça olduğu için hiçbirini bulamadı tabii ki. Bununla dalga geçsem mi üzülsem mi bilemedim.

Daha sonrasında ise biraz önce, yukarıda bahsettiğim ayrılmayı yaşadığımız arkadaşımın yanına, bir yazarın söyleşisine katılmak için gittik. Annem her ne kadar ilgilisi olmasa da sabırla bizim yanımızda kaldı. Bir de sanırım bunun asıl sebebi kocaman alanda kaybolmak istemeyişi idi.

Birkaç etiket ekleyerek bu fotoğrafı sosyal medyada paylaştık ve bu tatlı yazar arkadaşımla benim birbirimize etiketlediğimiz iki hikâyeyi de kendi hikâyesinde paylaştı 😁 Kendisi bir edebiyata merak salmış bir arkeolog. Fotoğrafta gördüğünüz Botter Apartmanı isimli romanını da size öneririm. Kendisi İstanbul sevdalısı ve yazılarında da bunu çok rahat bir şekilde anlayabilirsiniz.

Söyleyişi bittikten sonra, çıktığımız merdivenleri inerken aşağıda görebileceğiniz manzara oldukça hoşuma gitti. Bir noktada da bana lise yıllarımı hatırlattı.

Annem gelmeden alacağımız bütün kitapları aldığımız için biraz daha dolaştık inceleyerek. Tabii gezimizi bitirmeden önce ben özellikle 100. yıl kutlamaları için dizayn edilen birkaç standın fotoğrafını çekmek istedim. Bunları tek tek açıklamak yerine kusura bakmazsanız peş peşe ekleyeceğim. Zaten bu konu ile ilgili düşüncelerimi yukarıda da bahsettiğim 100. yıl postumda da belirtmiştim.

Bazıları oldukça sönük kalsa da bazıları muhteşem görebileceğiniz gibi. Olduğu kadar artık diyerek nefret sayılabilecek sözlerimi içime atmaktan başka elimden gelen bir şey yok aslında.

Yorumum

Açıkçası kutlamalar da dahil olmak üzere hiçbir şey eskisi gibi olmamış. Tabii ki de tıpatıp aynısının olması beklenemez, beklenmemeli fakat en azından benzer bir hava olmasını umuyor insan. Mesela son senemizde dahi çok daha fazla öğrenci vardı ve bu sene her ne kadar gişede çok fazla gördüğümü düşünsem de alana yayıldıktan sonra aslında o kadar da fazla olmadıklarını anladım.

Daha iyi olabilir miydi? Elbette. Oldu mu peki? Hayır. O yüzden daha fazla mızmızlanmanın bir anlamı yok diyeceğim ama birileri mızmızlanmadığı için bu durumda olduğunu düşünmek de devam etmemi sağlıyor. Neyse.

How are you? Are you all right? It hasn't been a long time since I realised that I have a lot of ebbs and flows, but I'm experiencing it more intensely than I've ever experienced. Maybe people with whom I have regular or long-term conversations have noticed this better.

Let's see what life throws at me, because the closer I get to my doctor's appointment on the 20th, the more nervous I get. For me, the possibility of being able to start sports again is more important than anything else right now. Anyway...

Today I would like to talk about what I really wanted to talk about on November 10th. 40th Tüyap International Istanbul Book Fair. On the 28th of October, I shared a post with you in which I talked about the 100th anniversary celebrations of the republic. And this time, it's the turn of the fair itself;

I can't even tell you how big the fairground is. You may not fully understand it, but at least I would like to share the map image with you so that something can be shaped in your mind.

Getting there

Fortunately, I did not need to make any transfers to reach this area. I travelled for about 45 to 50 minutes on a single bus, and at the end of about 90 stops, I reached the place where I could touch the books of my dreams. It was quite a comfortable process for me, who was trying to reach a point from a distant district.

The fairground covers almost more than half of the area. Especially with its garden, it becomes an even bigger place.

Since I am no longer a student and I am no longer a lecturer, I was able to get in by buying a ticket. I bought my ticket from the fair's website at the beginning of October. And I did it for a very small amount: 20 Turkish Liras, or 70 cents. You can find the event calendars on this website.

Now that I have talked about the size of the structure, which I admired, I think I can talk about what is going on inside.

Fair

Although the gate of the fair seems to be simple, it is a mess inside. Even though we didn't think it would be that crowded because we went at the first hour, it was quite crowded. Especially as it got closer to noon, the school groups gave my primary school friend and me a hard time.

Since the majority of the fair is addressed to students, tests and textbooks for the exam preparation period were predominant, however, this does not mean that there is no other subject at all. Just to prevent being lost, I took photos of the boards in every hall I entered, as you can see in the photo below. Of course, it would have been much more convenient and useful to distribute an informative brochure with a map at the entrance.

Of all the book stands, my favourite ones were usually the second-hand book sellers, and I think you can probably guess why. Especially in my Book Hunt, which I mentioned before, I also mentioned about this issue. There were a lot of books I wanted to buy, but of course, as you can imagine, it is difficult to afford all of them. It is a great success for me to be able to get out of here with an expenditure of 250 Turkish Liras, $8.74, not including travelling and food.

There were a lot of sales counsellors we chatted with while visiting the halls. In general, people were quite friendly. I would like to mention one in particular again. We chatted with the gentleman you see below for a long time. He talked about his experiences as a bookseller and gave my friend and me a lot of advice as book lovers.

Since he was used to photographers, he posed a little bit, but of course I couldn't do anything with my " lack of skill " 🤣 Of course, after so much conversation, he gave me and my friend a very nice discount. I liked him even more 😁 That's why bookshops are better than brands 😂

Afterwards, my mother, who worked half a day because that day was eve, joined us as soon as she got off work. On the way to pick her up, my friend and I separated because we had a plan that I will talk about in a moment. On the way to pick up my mother, I wanted to take a souvenir photo with her while it was not crowded. I even made a few jokes about her name in a very disgraceful way. (My mother's name is Hatıra which means memory.)

Despite being so tired, she insisted on coming because there were a few books she wanted to look at. Of course, she did this by saying "What do you understand?". Because her mother tongue is Russian and she acted as if she didn't help me learn 😒 Of course, she couldn't find any of the books she was looking for because they were in Russian. I didn't know whether to make fun of it or feel sad.

Afterwards, we went to my friend, with whom we had the aforementioned separation, to attend an author's interview. Although my mother was not interested, she patiently stayed with us. And I think the main reason for this was that she didn't want to get lost in the huge space.

We shared this photo on social media by adding a few tags and this sweet author shared the two stories that my friend and I tagged each other in her story 😁 She is an archaeologist who is interested in literature. I also recommend her novel Botter Apartment, which you can see in the photo. She is a lover of Istanbul and you can easily understand this in her writings.

After her talk was over, I really liked the view you can see below as we walked down the stairs. At some point, it reminded me of my high school years.

Since we had bought all the books we were going to buy before my mother arrived, we walked around a bit more. Of course, before we finished our visit, I wanted to take photos of a few stands especially designed for the 100th anniversary celebrations. Instead of explaining them one by one, I will add them one after the other if you don't mind. I have already mentioned my thoughts on this subject in my 100th anniversary post mentioned above.

Some of them are quite dull, but some of them are marvellous, as you can see. In fact, there is nothing I can do but to throw my words, which can be considered as hatred, into my heart.

My review

Obviously, nothing is the same as before, including the celebrations. Of course, it cannot and should not be expected to be exactly the same, but at least one hopes for a similar atmosphere. For example, even in our last year, there were much more students, and although I thought I saw a lot of them at the box office this year, I realised that there were actually not that many of them after they spread out in the area.

Could it have been better? Of course. But did it happen? No, it didn't. So I will say that there is no point in whining more, but thinking that it is in this situation because someone is not whining keeps me going. Anyway.

Thank you for travelling all the way to Tüyap with me. I don't know if you were satisfied with what you saw, but I think there were too many things to complain about and too many things to be satisfied with. My score for this meal is 5 🤣
