Vintage Silvertowne Drape Bust Silver Round

SilverTowne is a well-known mint for precious metal bullion and collectible coins. With its main office located in Winchester, Indiana, the mint has played a significant role in the town ever since it opened its doors in 1949.

A true American start-up tale is represented by SilverTowne. In 1949, Leon and Ruhama Hendrickson launched their first coin shop as a husband-and-wife duo. Even though SilverTowne's business expanded rapidly, the moral character and diligence of Leon and Ruhama—who were much influenced by the American prospectors of the past—have always been upheld.

Unusual in American coin history is the 1804 Dollar coin from the US Mint. Even though the coins had an 1804 date mark on them, nearly all of the examples that were made available for distribution were actually made starting in the 1830s, with a small number of samples appearing even later. Initially, the coins were intended to be gifts to foreign dignitaries during a diplomatic mission.

Lady Liberty is featured on the obverse side of every SilverTowne 1804 Dollar Replica Silver Round. This design, which features Liberty in right-profile relief with her hair flowing freely and no crown, was popularly referred to as the Bowed Liberty design. The original 1804 dollar featured the date mark "1804" with 13 stars on one side and the word "Liberty" above.

The back shows a heraldic eagle inspired by the United States' magnificent seal. "DEXTER HENDRICKSON" is written on a flag that the eagle is holding in its beak. The main image is surrounded by the words "THE KING OF AMERICAN COINS COPY". The words "1 OZ.999 FINE SILVER" together with its weight, content, and purity are inscribed in tiny letters to the left and right of the eagle's tail feathers.

Throughout its existence, which dates back to 1792, the United States Mint has produced a vast array of Liberty designs. While some of these Liberty designs were frequently disregarded and lost to the pages of history, many of them went on to become icons in the minds of Americans.
