Vintage 1974 Liberty Lobby George Washington Silver Round

The three American presidents that I like and admire are George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Ronald Reagan. I naturally buy coins and rounds that depict them.

The silver round I feature is by Liberty Lobby, which depicts George Washington.

Liberty Trust is a well-known part of Liberty Lobby. It specialized in pure silver minting and sales and was founded in 1973. Liberty Trust held the distinction of being the oldest private mint in the United States.

Liberty Trust Mint produced multiple 1 oz and 1/2 oz rounds starting in 1973. Up until the organization's dissolution in 2001, they produced George Washington, Martha Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Andrew Jackson. These were among the historical individuals portrayed on the.999 Fine Silver rounds.

Obverse: George Washington's portrait is shown in the center, facing right. The words "INTEGRITY" and "LIBERTY LOBBY" are etched above and below the portrait, respectively. On the lower right corner, close to George Washington's neck, is the release date "1974".

Reverse: The Liberty Lobby logo occupies the majority of the reverse. The emblem has a banner that reads "ETERNAL VIGILANCE" in the beak of an eagle holding thirteen arrows. The organization "LL" initials are situated inside a shield on the eagle's chest. The words "ONE SILVER EAGLE" and "GUARANTEED" are written above and below the logo, respectively. The purity of ".999 FINE" is positioned to the right of the emblem, and the weight of "ONE OUNCE" is located to the left.

The depiction of George Washington in this silver round is, I think, one of the best renditions ever produced. I think it is even better than John Flanagan's work in the original U.S. George Washington Quarter.

The design, a brainchild of John Flanagan, was simple yet majestic. Picture this: a dignified profile of Washington on the front, gazing into the distance like he's pondering the future of the nation he helped forge.
