Spain
I have visited Spain a few times, and each time I've been there I have thought about living there; right now I am living in Spain, without the S.

Ireland is great, and I do love it, but I can really see that within the next, 5-10 years it is going to be damn near impossible to live here. More and more people are being forced to migrate because sadly, everything has become way too expensive, especially housing. I think the closer to Dublin you live, the harder it is to find a place, so the options would be to move away from every city in the country, especially Dublin, or just leave completely.

For example, banks aren't giving out mortgages to people. You could pay 600 Euros, or so a month on a mortgage and own the house, or you could pay upwards of 2,000 Euros to rent a place, essentially paying someone else's mortgage and then some. But, if you're able to pay rent, it doesn't prove to the banks that you can pay a mortgage of less than half that price. It's kind of annoying.

There's an example of the rent prices in Dublin ^ 3,335 Euros a month, for a two-bedroom apartment, it's a joke and the small towns surrounding Dublin, for this reason, have become commuter towns, and due to the lack of housing vs the demand, the price has skyrocketed.

Learning A Language
Another reason I would want to move to Spain too is because I'd love to learn Spanish. I have picked up phrases and stuff while over there, just the kind of things I would use regularly, and living there would speed the process up a lot, since I'd be communicating each day.

Weather
I like the sun, and I know Spain isn't sunny all year round or anything, but it is a warm country depending on which region you live in. I would rather live in a small town, rather than a city, but close enough to a city to be able to go in whenever I want.

Mainland Europe
Living in mainland Europe would be amazing I think, because you can travel by train to other countries, rather than going through all the hassle of flying, although, flying in some cases would be faster and easier.

I think being an island is a detriment to Ireland, because we're an island, all of our goods have to be imported by boat and due to that, everything is expensive. Also, our government has ridiculously taxed everything through the roof, and in my eyes, it has hurt a lot of sectors, people, and our economy as a whole, the ripples of which will be realised soon enough.

Music and Bands
A lot of bands travel to Spain to play gigs, and while Ireland gets its fair share of artists traveling over to play concerts, we don't attract the people I'd like to see.

See, here's the thing. Ireland has a lot of 800 - 1,200 capacity venues, which would be great for low-level bands coming over from, let's say, England, or Europe, but for bands coming from the States, or wherever, it isn't really worth their while a lot of the time. The types of bands that could fill a larger venue than what is readily available, but these groups may not be able to fill a 13,000-capacity arena, which is literally the next stage up from the other venues.

The country needs more, 2,500-5,000 venues, but we just don't have them. So, I constantly see bands I like coming to Europe while leaving us off the map.

The last time I was in Barcelona Bad Religion was playing, and we were just a few days out from being able to see them, so that's another reason I would want to live in Spain.

Final Thoughts
Yeah, so that's about it, Spain, for learning a language spoken by a large percent of the world's population, warm weather, cheaper cost of living, easier access to the rest of Europe, and better prospects when it comes to seeing bands I like.

Ireland, a great country and I love it, but the people in charge are running it into the ground, and apparently, nothing can be done to stop it.

My generation has almost completely been left behind, and just about has no hope of ever owning our own home, and the generations coming up behind us will have even less. In fact, I read somewhere that we are the first generation to be worse off than our parents, so yeah, leaving seems to be our only option.
