Dominion Ability Challenge Part 1

Introduction

This is my first time taking part of The People's Guild Challenge by @thepeoplesguild. The challenge this time around is creating 7 abilities (one for each element) and focusing on 4 elements: team-wide benefit focus, thematic element roots, exclusive to dominion and clear differentiation. I came up with some abilities and you may see that there is some inspiration from Pokemon because why not.

Water

Rain Dance: Make it rain that lasts for 1-2 rounds, all "water" element units gain 25% dodge and 1 speed during the duration. If there are any enemy fire units, they will lose 1 attack (can be melee, magic, physical) and 1 speed during the duration.

I believe the water element is notorious for having fast units and units with swiftness so this ability can synergize well with water element units. I also like the situational element to it where it can actually counter it's counterpart because water obviously drowns out fire.

Fire

Inferno Vortex: Create a fire vortex that lasts randomly for 1-2 rounds, all "fire" element units gain on-hit burn (100% chance to burn provided attack doesn't miss) and 1 speed during the duration. If there are any enemy earth units, they will take double the burn damage and lose 1 attack (can be melee, range or magic) during the duration.

I feel fire element doesn't really burn so this can actually give it the signature burn we are expecting from the fire element.

Earth

Foresty Field: Create a foresty terrain that lasts randomly for 1-2 rounds, all "earth" element units gain 1 armor, 1 health and self heal during the duration. If there are any enemy water units, they will 2 armor and one speed during the duration.

Earth element is known to be tanky and bulky with high health units and healing and I think this ability goes well with the units from this element.

Life

Shining Light: Create a shining light that lasts randomly for 1-2 rounds, all "life" element units gain 1 self-resurrect and divine shield during the duration. If there are any enemy death units, they will do half the damage.

Life is known for their resurrect and divine shield so I feel this will fit the playstyle of life.

Death

Darkness: Fill the battlefield with darkness that lasts randomly for 1-2 rounds, all "death" element units gain 1 attack (melee, range, magic), life leech and special sneak (this sneak ignores fog of war and Lily Shieldpaw) during the duration. If there are any enemy life units, they will lose one health and be blinded (blind will be increased to 33% miss chance during the duration).

I feel life leech is a signature ability for death and the blind makes sense. I think it would be too OP to give buff and debuff so it makes sense for it to be on the counter matchup against life for the extra debuff. The special sneak is to give it something unique since other elements I have given them unique stuff like burning etc.

Dragon

image.png

Dragon's Roar: A roar envelops the battlefield that lasts randomly for 1-2 rounds, all "dragon" element units gain 2 speed, 2 attack (melee, range, or magic), and execute. All non-dragon units are intimidated, they lose 1 attack and 1 speed during the duration.

Dragon is the supreme element. Dragon comes with great power and that's why it's getting that extra buff compared to the others.

Neutral

Neutralize: Creates a zone of neutrality for 1-2 rounds. While in this zone, all ally units gain immune and enemies don't gain buffs (the buffs will return when zone duration is over).

No idea if there's a certain element for neutral but I think this ability kind of makes sense haha.
