Splinterlands - Season 137 - Back in Gold I

Season 137 is finished and it marks my full return to the modern league with no games played at all in wild. It was pretty easy for me to get my games in as I was home most of the time and not so active, which helped.

I was very happy then that finally on the last day of the season to reach the coveted Gold I league again which has been my goal to do for a long time. Usually I was always ending up here but in the last year, it became more and more impossible.

It was a bit of a grind to get here becuase sometimes you take 2 steps forward and 3 steps backward depending on your opponents and the algorythm. Mostly you are facing max level decks and these are not so easy to beat.

The only downside of modern compared to wild for me so far is that my Glint earnings are not as much as you could get in Champion level in wild before the recent changes. I am still needing epic and legendary soulbound cards and therefore need as much glint as possible.

With only 37k glint from my end of season reward, this gave me the choice to either buy 1 legendary and a few more epics. In the end I opted for some utlimate chests that might give me more bang for my buck, however, this didn't work as planned and I got less cards than I wanted and a load of energy instead, which wasn't what I needed.

I did however pull at least 1 legendary which helped, just the waste of glint to only get 1 epic card was disappointing and instead I was bombarded with energy and merits.. plus some potions of course which we all hate.

The ultimate chests have really been nerfed and don't seem worth it sometimes. Perhaps it just makes sense to buy the single legendary or epic cards that I need. My boost with around 35k SPS was giving me a multiple of 15x, so there isn't much more I can do to increase that except to maybe consider to jump to wild for a season. This has been on my mind whether I should do that or not, but my SPS earnings in modern have been pretty great, getting to over 5 SPS per won battle at times.

With SPS still falling with the whole GameFI market, this doesn't however translate into very much higher rewards at the moment though.

The Splinterlands community has been quite active on Xitter lately and I entered a competition where I was lucky when I named Jared Scar as my favorite Splinterlands card and I won 2 Rebellion packs.

These I eagerly opened and was generally happy with the pull. I have collected a level 1 of nearly all the rebellion cards, but do not see myself getting a max level deck in them yet. I am not sure when chaos legion falls into wild, I would probably go with it as the cost of a rebellion deck at max level is ~$5k, which is outside of my budget.

With the price of cards continuing to fall, I have been busy upgrading my core Chaos Legion set to max level where possible. Some of my upgrades this season have been Regal Peryton, Mycelic Slipspawn and Queen Mycelia. In order to cover these, I decided to sell some of my gold foil cards that I am not using.

I already started to notice the impact to my games with them being at max level and it has been well worth it. I should be finished with my water and earth decks soon and can then look at the remaining splinters to be at full strength.

How was your season?

That's all for this update, thanks for reading.
