Hello Splinterfans!
It took me some time, but finally I got myself a Runi. I really wanted to get one when they were launched but I was hesitating too long and thinking about gas fees on ETH, which are crazy just for moving jpegs around on a PoS chain.
However, I finally decided to just get on with it and get my Runi and I am glad I did. Once I had bought it on OpenSea and added to my Metamask wallet, it was pretty quick and easy to assign to my account. You need to pay gas fees to do that too.
In the manage Runi screen you can then get an overview of your Runi. Here you can see that it costs 6 mana with some really useful abilities like opportunity, rebirth, true strike and reflection shield. The great thing about him too is that it is a neuteral monster, so you can play him in all splinters.
Next I needed to try and think how I would use him in battle. At first I was not sure, but I seem to think of him as a more advanced Deeplurker with his extra abilities and you can use him with all splinters, like here with the light splinter.
It is really cool being able to add Runi to all splinters which is a great benefit of him. Here it is like having a Deeplurker in the life splinter.
Next up I have found him very helpful with Poison ruleset because once he uses his rebirth ability, he is no longer poisoned so can continue attacking your enemy.
Finally, it is also now more fun when you face off against another Runi. Who will take glory in the battle of the Runis?!
Overall, I am loving having Runi and exploring what battles that he best fits into. The fact that he is a neuteral monster with many good abilities is coming in handy quite often. I am only thinking if I should use him or Deeplurker sometimes in a battle as Deeplurker is slightly faster, but in reverse ruleset, Runi is far ahead.
At the moment I am not sure if there will be any usage for Runi on land, but I would currently want to keep him in my lineup to play anyhow.
