Aim True

Hello Splinterfans!

This week we have the new Battle Mage Secrets weekly challenge with Aim True.

Aim True is a really good ruleset if you have slower melee and ranged monsters who can often miss against your opponents... with Aim True, they will always hit their target!

This can be helpful for battling those though to beat monsters with dodge or flying ability as you will hit them, whereas before you may have had many misses. I love the Aim True ruleset so that I can deal the maximum impact to my opponent.

Aim True is very similar to the True Strike ability that some monsters have and this can come in very handy as you know that your attack won't miss.

On to this week's battle.

My Team

This is a high mana battle and I therefore needed some good heavy hitters.

ROUND 1 - Coeurl Lurker vs. Uriel the Purifier

image.png

My opponent has used the awesome Coeurl Lurker up front who is a great tank because of his dodge ability. However, this will not work this time because of the Aim True ruleset. My idea originally was to use Iziar upfront because of his magic void ability, but opted instead with Uriel because of his strong melee attack and I hope that he will survive my opponent's magic attack because I only have him at level 1 and he has no heal. Iziar will be the backup.

I have opted for the Slow Worm who has a strong melee attack and often misses. Now he will hit his target! My choice of ranged attack was low because we could only play odd-numbered cards, but having some ranged attack to take advantage of Sloan's +1 ranged attack was important. These guys are slow and could often miss but now I know they will hit their target.

In the first round, Coeurl Lurker with his taunt ability gets pummelled because there are no missed attacks. Soon after, Iziar with his taunt ability also falls. Things are looking pretty even so far.

ROUND 2

In the second round, Haunted Spirit is the next to fall. Whilst he has heal and magic reflect, this is no use against the power of Uriel's melee attack that more than overpowers him. My Sand Worm then knocks out Dhampir Stalker. Without any shield, he was helpless against the Sand Worm.

Things are not looking good for my opponent.

ROUND 3

image.png

Things start off well for me in round 3 with my Sand Worm almost taking out their Sand Worm and leaving him with just 1 health. Cabalist is the next to fall at the hands of Portal Spinner followed by my own Lone Boatman because their Sand Worm is still standing.. just.

Next Djinn Muirat goes down at the hands of Runemancer Atuat who is practically unscathed in this battle so far.

Round 4

By round 4 it is already over, Uriel delivers the killer punch to their Sand Worm and it is an easy victory.

Summary:

With the Aim True ruleset, you can feel free to use those slower monsters who might miss under normal rulesets as you will be able to rely on them to deliver their punches.

As this is applicable to melee and ranged attack, it could be worth considering shield options and including monsters with repair or shield buffs.

Thanks for reading.
