About the Ruleset

The Target Practice ruleset states that "All Ranged and Magic Attack Monsters have the Snipe ability". This means that your Ranged and Magic attack monsters will attack the first non-melee monster that is not in position 1.

PositionNameDescription
1Failed SummonerIt has no attack and the Magic Reflect ability. It's here to reflect melee and magic attacks should it come down to that.
2Fungus FlingerIt has low health and the Martyr ability. It's likely to be the first monster to be attacked for this ruleset, and is meant to boost the stats of Regal Peryton and Failed Summoner.
3Regal PerytonThis is the main beneficiary of the Martyr ability from Fungus Flinger and will do most of the damage.
4Spirit HoarderIt has the Triage ability and is meant to heal Regal Peryton to improve its survivability.
5Goblin PsychicIt has good Magic damage and can prevent heals with its Affliction ability. It can also heal the main tank if needed.
6Kymer PrincessI had 2 mana points left, and it was perfect for it.

Strategy

The ruleset here meant that (1) the Ranged and Magic attack monsters will target the first non-melee monster that is not in position 1, (2) Melee damage will be reflected.

In such a ruleset, it's best not to use Melee monsters entirely if possible, and to carefully consider which is the non-melee monster that goes into position 2, as that is the first monster to be attacked. One option is to have a high health ranged or magic monster as the main tank in the second position. Another option, which I employed here, is to have a sacrificial monster that will give the adjacent monsters a boost. The rest of the deck were the magic monsters that will hit the opponent's first non-melee monster and provide some heals.

The opponent didn't seem to take the ruleset into account, with Queen Mycelia being the one being attacked first, and I managed to take her out fast. I was also lucky that the random attacks from Mapcap Magus didn't hit Spirit Hoarder, and I was able to throw off a couple of heals. That also allowed me to win the battle win ease.

Thoughts on the Target Practice Ruleset

The Target Practice ruleset requires some thought into the strategy, as the tank is not the first target in this ruleset. As I mentioned earlier, one strategy is to have a high health ranged or magic monster as the main tank in the second position. Or with the Taunt ability and you can place it in any position. Another good strategy is to have a sacrificial monster with the Martyr ability to boost the stats of its adjacent monsters.
