ENGLISH

Of all the questions in this saga proposed by damarysvibra@damarysvibra, this is the one that has been most difficult for me to answer and, I must say, reading jrobe@jrobe's publication titled “What I can contribute about myself”, showed me the way to follow for my writing.

It must be that I don't like to talk about the positive things I can do for others or that I was focused on thinking that, in order to contribute something to the world, it had to be something great, transcendental or extremely significant.

However, when I focused on the fact that my world is my home, my work, my community and that the greatness of things is in the simplicity with which they are treated, then the light came.

jrobe@jrobe talked about his profession as a teacher and there is part of what I can continue to contribute to the world, to my colleagues, to my world.
In short, as a teacher, social worker, researcher and lover of life and my family, I can say that this is what I can contribute:

• Positive modes of action. The best way to educate is by personal example and, when children see their parents, their older relatives and their teachers doing the right things, they grow with those positive ways of acting. Therefore, my way of behaving towards others, respect for human beings, the correct rules of coexistence and the way I behave mark my way of being and, by doing so, I am contributing to the world a way of living and being.

• Love for human beings. The best feeling that exists is love, there is no doubt about that and, beyond thinking that love is for relationships, the truly true thing is that this feeling applies to everything we do in life. But, it is vital that we learn to give love to children, adolescents, young people and our adults. Many times we complain about the lack of attention that elderly people have and, many times, it is because we do not cultivate this feeling with children from the earliest ages.

• Respect for the environment. Many times we live as if the resources in nature were inexhaustible. Also, we think that we do not contaminate the environment when we throw garbage in the street, throw a can or plastic in the sand of the beach or the waters of the river or, when we cut down a tree indiscriminately. It is true that they are isolated actions. But, if we teach that these actions go against nature and we all prevent this from happening, we will be sending a message of respect for our Mother Earth and we will leave a mark of respect for nature.

• Knowledge to face daily challenges. This is vital because in order to understand the world's challenges you must have knowledge. A person can be rich and when he runs out of money he loses his wealth. On the other hand, knowledge can never be taken away from you and you will remain free. The national hero of Cuba, José Martí, expressed: “Being cultured is the only way to be free”

• My life stories. Another thing I have to contribute are my life stories. Each one of them has marked an important moment in my life and has left me with lessons for life.

This community has witnessed some life stories lived by the author that I make available to the public who read me, so that they do not make my mistakes or that they benefit from some of the therapies, advice or any positive action that has happened in my life that has allowed me to move forward.

A final comment

It may not be much that I have to contribute, but it is what I have tried to convey to my students, my family and everyone who is part of my living environment.

In any case, each person contributes from their field of action and the position they have.

In the end, as we say here in Cuba: I share what I have, not what I have left over.

What do you think?
