This week featuring monster for Weekly Challenge is CRYPT BEETLE.
I don't usually play CRYPT BEETLE and I had hard time using the card. In fact, I had play more than a handful of matches and lost all of them. There was one match that was closed to winning that I lost to a single health point. And I thought of reporting that battle. Later, I tried one last match with Dragon+Death splinter with CRYPT BEETLE and finally, I got the win.
It was 19 mana capped match against Earth splinter. Typically, Earth splinter loaded with magicians are pretty strong against Dragon+Death splinter.

Summoner : Drake of Arnak

Drake of Arnak, my preferred choice for a combination with Death splinter, provides 1+ shield to all friendly monsters. Only weakness is against Earth splinter with magic cards.

First Position : Cursed Slimeball

Usually use as a cover for the valuable cards or place at the end of the line for the sneakers. 'Chaos Agent' also is a good candidate for that purpose. Sometimes, it is used to feed the 'Scavenger' cards. This time, it is used as front-line unit hoping to buy some time for the sneakers and sniper.

Second Position : CARRION SHADE

The same purpose as 'Cursed Slimeball' but with more health point at 1 mana cost. In fact, every single monster is useful if you know how to use and where to place. More health point doesn't necessarily mean better especially for low mana cost monsters. Sometimes, I use 'Chaos Agent' instead of other monster with more health and attack to cover my rage or magic unit from the snipers.

Third Position : CRYPT BEETLE (Featuring Monster)

With 3 mana, you can get Crypt Beetle' which possess 'Shield' ability. I can't usually find a place for it except the game rule is ' Super Sneak ' and low mana capped match, where you can place it at the end and hope that the shield make it hard to kill where cards attack on the last card or may be a few other use-cases.

Forth Position : DEATH ELEMENTAL

One of my preferred choice for 'Death' splinter for its ability to look beyond melee cards. With its relative good speed, it could eliminate some important cards in the early rounds with the snipe ability. Being a magic unit, it is also a target for the snipers from the other side. Make sure you have cover for it.

Fifth Position : UNDEAD BADGER

For me, when I play 'Death' splinter, sneaker cards are a must. Due to its low health, it could be a target for opportunity monsters that you need to place 1 mana monsters as a cover. Summoner's shield is very important for it as well.

Last Position : SILENT SHA-VI

When you use sneakers in your line-up, one may not be enough. 'SilentSha-vi' is a strong back-line card. Two sneakers and one or two opportunity monster could give a result you want.

The battle was 19 mana capped one against Earth splinter. Typically, Earth is very good against Dragon+Death splinter. But the battle was 3 vs 6 cards, out of 3, only 2 of them were strong.

Round 1
The Cursed Slimeball was eliminated by Regal Peryton right at the start and Carrion Shade move to the first place as a tank. All my sniper and sneakers targeted Regal Peryton and it was left with only 2 hit points. Carrion Shade damaged the Mycelic Morphoid as it evaded the attack from the latter.

Round 2

Again, Regal Peryton's 2 magic attack eliminated the Carrion Shade and Crypt Beetle came to the first position as a tank. My sneakers and sniper managed to hit Regal Peryton to death while the Crypt Beetle, which took no damage because of its shield, taken out Mycelic Morphoid and enemy was left with Unicorn Mustang alone. 1vs4.

Round 3

In round 3, Unicorn Mustang took out the shield of Crypt Beetle while it took damage from 10 to 6 hit points. Because of the void ability, no damage from the Death Elemental.

Round 4

Crypt Beetle was knocked out and Death Elemental came to the first place, Undead Badger missed the target. After round 4, Unicorn Mustang was left with 4 hit points.

Round 5

This time, both of the sneaker found the target and Unicorn Mustang had left with only 1 health point and could last just one more round. Death Elemental's shield was taken out by Unicorn Mustang.

Round 5

*Death Elemental was taken out and Undead Badger came to the first place. Silent Sha-vi attacked first and missed. This time, Undead Badger made no mistake and taken out the Unicorn Mustang.

Finally, after playing more than a few battles with Crypt Beetle, I found my first win with it.
Although I don't much like Crypt Beetle, with the right strategy, you could find the win with it.
